words of L. R. (Dutch) Meyer
ex-football coach and now Athle-
tic Director of Texas Christian
University during his speech at
the first annual Hardin-Simmons
University AU-Lettermen's Ban-
quet Tuesday night in Rose Field
House.
Meyer the principal speaker
of the evening presented a short
but stimulating talk stressing the
need for aggressiveness whether in
the world of sports or business.
Morris Frank of Houston and
the Houston Chronicle was the
Master of Ceremonies. His humor-
ous and interesting stories play-
ed a large part in making the ini
tial banquet a success.
Frank introduced various guests
who in turn made the award
presentations which were the
highlights of the evening.

Robert Chancellor was elected
president of the Junior Class in a
meeting xvionaay. Assisting nun
for the year of 1956-57 will be
Eugene Beaty of Pampa as vice-
president Phyllis Lockhart of
Seminole as secretary and Char-
les Perry of Sudan as treasurer.
Jean Lawless an Abilerie pro-
duct and James Welch of Sey-
mour will share the position of
social chairman. Mike Cochran

Council To Appoint
Three Positions
Student Council President Hal
Haralson has announced that
selection of Council Correspond-
ing Secretary Social Chairman
and Publicity Chairman will be
made next week at the regular
Council meeting.
Haralson in stating the respon-
sibilities of the positions said
that the three selected will be
expected to attend all regular
and call meetings of the Coun-
cil but that they would have no
vote on the Council. He further
stated that the 1. (one point)
grade average requirement would
extend to those who apply .for
any of the posts.
Any student interested in one
of the three positions should con-
tact the council member in charge
of nominations for that place.
Those who apply will ( be inter-
viewed by the Council at the
meeting Tuesday May 8 at 6
p. m. in Mary Fances Hall.

For the third time in their
colorful history the H-SU Cow-
boy Band will cross the big pond
to other lands to be ambassadors
of H-SU the greater Southwest
and the whole United States. This
time the globe-girdling group is
hopping into a world hot-spot
Israel to entertain in that troub-
led section of the world.
Although it had been general
campus knowledge that the trip
was being planned it was not till
Saturday that President Evan
Allard Reiff and Marion B. Mc-
Clure band director made pub-
lic the plans.
Tel Aviv
Headquarters for the group
will be in Tel Aviv. They will
work from here under bookings
arranged by the Giora Godik
Concert Enterprises in Israel a
commercial booking agency. The
tour is being sponsored by this
group in cooperation with the
U. S. Department of State.
"Contracts have been signed
with full protection to the Uni-
versity and to the student sub-
ject always to approval of the
U. S. Department of State"
President Reiff. said.
Administrators of -the Univer-
sity are in close touch with the
State department as to any condi-
tions which might affect the tour.
Tensions formerly very high
have recently lessened.

Price To Head 56-57
Ministerial Council
Last Monday night the Min-
isterial Council met in regular
session and elected the new offi-
cers for the coming year. Lewis
C. Price was elected as president
of the Council for the next year.
Price is a junior from Odessa
Texas. He served the Baptist Stu-
dent Union as vice-president the
past year. Price who is a veteran
student served the ministerial
council as program chairman his
Freshman year.
Carl Burton a junior from Tur
