CARD OF THANKS
We wish to take these
means of expressing our
thanks and appreciation for
kindnesses shown us at the
passing of our beloved hus-
band and father, Benno Sch-
iahach. Especially do we thank
Pastor Waldemar Wendel, his
doctors, the Koenig Funeral
Home for their excellent ser-
vices, the pall bearers, choir,
those who brought the flow-
ers and memorial cards, those
who sent food and helped us
in any way. May God bless
all of you.
The Benno Schlabach Family
that Juliette Low invited 12
girls to form the first Girl
Scout troop in Savannah,
Georgia. So this past Satur- |
day, March 11, over 6000 reg- I
istered Girl Scouts in this a-
rea started the Texas Colora-
do Lakes Council celebration .
of Girl Scout Week.
The program ieatured an
hour long pageant entitled
“Honor the Past—Serve the
Future.” It began at eleven
o’clock. Outstanding acts in-
cluded a Flag Ceremony at
Camp Texlake with horse-
shoe, color bearer and color
guard. There were tableaus
depicting the Girl Scout Cha-
let in Switzerland, the Caba-
na in Mexico and the Ark in
England; a Girl Scout chorus
a drill team and a Girl Scout
hand. Over 400 Brownies and
Girl Scouts participated in the
program.
Displays of the various nei-
ghborhood troops from the 18
counties of the Council carried
out the theme “You, Your
Home, and Your Heritage."
Also, personal interest hob-
bies were depicted as well as
projects in agriculture, home-
making and displays covering
stories of our heritage. The
girls enjoyed viewing all these
displays and listening to the
various Indian dances, etc.
Juliette Low’s dream was
that girls of all lands would be
Girl Scouts and Girl Guides.
She felt that knowing one an-
other would help to someday
build peace and make a possi-
ble better understanding bet-
ween the nation. There are
now over three million Girl
Scouts and Girl Guides in the
world.
Each girl brought a sack
lunch and all went to Zilker
park at noontime.
Before returning home they
decided to attend the Austin
Kennel Club’s Dog Show at
the Coliseum. They returned
home at 5 p. m.
The following attended the
party: Ann Blankenship, De-
borah Gold, Sharon • Gold,
Barbara A. Hoelscher, Marie
