In lieu of laying a memorial
wreath at the Historic Oak. the
wreath was given to Mayor
von Minden for placing at the
tree at some other appropriate
date. The wreath presentation
was by Miss Jane Carlisle and
Lamar Cain of Austin. Child-
ren of the Confederacy.
After the program, the visi-
tors stopDed briefly at Monu-
ment Hill State Park to view
the tomb of the Dawson and
Mier Men. and to hear a short
talk by Postmaster W. P Frey-
tag on the history of the Tex-
as martyrs.
Upon arrival in La Grange,
the visitors had luncheon at
Cottonwood Inn and the pro-
gram followed.
The City of La Grange pre-
sented a colorful—and historic
—atmosphere for the momen-
tous occasion United States
and Texas flags fluttered in
the stiff north wind all over
the town, and miniature Con-
federate flags were displayed
at almost every door.
Mr and Mrs Victor Baca
and Miss Jo Ann Schobel of
Columbus and Miss Kay 7,apa-
lac spent Sunday in Seguin
where they were joined by
Ronald Bara, a jtinior student
at TLC. They also visited in
New Braunfels.
