In the Army’s armory of new
weapons is the newly unveiled
Davy Crockett, a jeep mounted
rocket launcher which can fire
a nuclear or conventional roc-
ket.
The weapon, shown for the
first time in Washington, D. C.,
recently, can be either jeep
mounted or fired by as few as
two soldiers from the ground.
It carries the destructive pow-
er of a massed artillery bar-
rage.

Schoenst Completes
Advance Training
Army Recruit Fritz C. Sch-
oenst Jr., whose patents live on
Rt 1. Carmine, completed
eight weeks of advanced indi-
vidual armor training Jan. 12
under the Reserve Forces Act
program at Fort Knox, Ky.
During this phase of train-1
ing, Schoenst qualified as a
driver of the Army’s medium
tank, passed proficiency tests
with the .30 and .50 caliber ma- i
chine guns and qualified as a j
gunner with the 90 millimeter! ‘
tank gun.
The 22-year-old soldier at-
tended Carmine High school.
