Freshman English class
donates book to Tuscola
Even though they didn't know
him very well membcrri of Rickey
Blankonship's freshman English
class felt the loss of their fellow clas-
smate when he died Sept. 2p from
injuries received in an electrical
accident several days earlier.
Students in Mrs. Velma Reiffs
English class took up a collection
which totaled almost $20 to buy a
book to donate to the library of Jim
Ned High School in Tuscola where
the youth waB from. The group gave
the money to the school which
selected a book from Rickey's field-
political science. The title of the
book which is donated in memory
of the 19-year-old youth is The Com-
ing to Power; Critical Presidential
Elections in American History
According to Bill Oslin student
in the class the group received a let-
ter from the school thanking them.
The letter described the book as a
550 page reference book.
"I was very surprised at the tre-
mendous sense of loss they had for
him even though they had not
known him a long time" said Mrs.
Reiff.
Rickey was injured while climb-
ing an electrical pole in Buffalo Gap.
He was the son of Mrs. Coy Brown
and the late J.D. Blankenship. He
was enrolled at H-SU this fall
majoring in law enforcement

Our world diminishes from natural beauty
to ucjly clutter. A painjul contrast
that raises the Question "Why" On fact
why poverty in a laud oj plenty 'Why loneliness
in a world that would join hands IVhy war when
the impulse oj the heart is to love 7he aching
chasm between the real and the ideal everywhere
provokes the Question . . .
WHY?
In a world looking for answers
maybe God is the place to start.
God is hope.-God is now.
