Mrs. Bertha Maeckel
Taken By Death
Funeral services for Mrs.
Bertha Johanne Maeckel, 75,
of Park, whose death occurred
Sunday, were held Monday at
Industry, with the Rev. Josef
Barton of Nelsonville officiat-
ing.
Mrs. Maeckel was a native of
the Schoenau community and
was a daughter of Frederick
and Theresie Mikeska Koch,
emigrants from Germany. She
married William Maeckel at
Welcome, Texas, Nov. 2, 1907.
Until recently when Mr. Maec-
kel expired, the couple had en-
gaged in farming near Shelby.
For the past year and a half,
she had resided near Park.
Prior to that time, she had liv-
ed with her husband near
Shelby.
Surviving are three daugh-
ters, Miss Bertha Maeckel, Ed-
na, Mrs. Alouis Skalitsky, and
Lillie, Mrs. Frank Moeller, all
of Fayetteville; three sons, Wil-
lie and Eddie of Fayetteville,
and Bennie of El Campo; two

day for the local Lions Club.
In his address, he spoke con-
cerning the history of selec-
tive service, tracing it back to
Biblical times.

the American Lutheran Church
at Waldeck, on Sunday, June
28. A short musical program of
songs of praise was rendered
by the Sunday School choir.
After the picnic lunch was
served cafeteria style, the af-
ternoon was spent in pleasant
fellowship.
