Cal., has purchased a $50,000 site for
a new labor temple.

be the first city to adopt the mini-
mum wage as applicable to all mu-
nicipal work and contracts.
The Canadian government proposes
to restrict the working hours of the
street railway men to six days of ten
hours each day.
The Pittsburg Typographical Union
is circulating a petition to repeal the
new mortuary law, which was adopted
in November of last year.
The entire state of Illinois reports
but 8077 children under sixteen years
at work; in all Ohio there are only
9019 children regularly at work.
The total amount paid in sick, dis-
ability and death benefits by the Boot
and Shoe Workers’ International Un-
ion during the last year was about
$90,000.
To assist the San Francisco, Cal.,
■Labor Council in building a $250,000
labor temple, the Alaska Fishermen’s
Union will buy $5000 worth of bonds.

“What do you want for breakfast?”
inquired Brown’s good wife.
“Just a pleasant smile and a breath
of fresh air,” answered Brown the
morning after an . important meeting
at the lodge. ;

Drank Water to Gain Weight.
A Chicago man who wanted to join
the police force drank enough water
just before the examination, to bring
him up to the standard weight. He
was four pounds tog light before.
This is a poor way to gain weight
—George Muller, Jr., of New York
City, knows a much better way. He
Says, “I was pale and thin for a num-
ber of years owing to poor blood.
Tried several different remedies but
without benefit until I came to Vinol.
It is certainly the best tonic I ever
bought. My appetite has returned,
my weight is increasing right along
and I f£el at least 100 per cent bet-
ter than I have for a long time.”
If you are thin and poor Vinol will
increase your weight and give you
new strength. Vinol is our delicious

A new industrial conflict threatens
London. The chorus girls, following
the example of the miners, now de- i
mand a minimum wage. Their cause

is gallantly championed by the J
Amalgamated Musicians’ Union. The
girls demand a minimum salary of
$7 for six evening performances, and
one dollar for each matinee perform-
ance.
