Community at 1 a.m. Friday, May 9, 1958. The Rev. W. J. Epting and the Rev. Roy Stanley conducted
the service. Burial was in Celina Cemetery directed by Helms Funeral Home in Celina, Texas. Mrs.
Owens nephews acted as pallbearers. Mrs. Owens was born November 1, 1879 in Tennessee, a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Johnson. She was married July 4, 1897 to C. F. Owens whose death occurred in
May of 1949. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Marilee Baptist Church. Survivors include five
daughters, Mrs. Jessie Rogers of Gunter, Texas, Mrs. W. D. McDonald of Marilee, Texas, Mrs. Jewel
Rolin of Sherman, Texas, Mrs. Raymond Shelton of McKinney, Texas, Mrs. Virda Walden of Grand
Prairie, Texas; three sons, Robert Owens of Sherman, Texas, Carl Owens of Victorville, California and
Thelbert Owens of California; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Johnson of
Anna, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Delia Ashley of Childress, Texas and Mrs. W. S. Kinnard of Fort Worth,

Eula Lee (Maxwell) Pafford: The community lost one of its oldest citizens Monday when Mrs.
Eula Lee Pafford died Monday, August 18, 1952, at 6:30 a.m. at her home a short distance NE of the
Cottage Hill Cemetery after an illness of four years. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the
Cottage Hill Methodist Church conducted by Rev. C. B. Garrett, pastor of Celina Methodist Church and
Rev. J. T. Bledsoe of Gunter. Burial was in Cottage Hill Cemetery directed by Helms Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Leslie, Wesley, John and Norman Pafford, Thomas and Gerald Moseley.
Mrs. Pafford was born May 27, 1867 in North Carolina, daughter of James and Nancy Alee Maxwell.
She came to Texas with her parents when she was a small child and settled in Jack County. Later the
family lived in Wise County where her mother died. Her father brought the family to Collin County
when she was in her early twenties. Mrs. Pafford, who was a member of Cottage Hill Methodist Church
had lived in the same house in the Cottage Hill Community for sixty one years. She married Mitchell
Wesley Pafford on June 5, 1892 and two children, both of them surviving, were born to the marriage.
They are Mrs. T. J. Moseley of the Alla Community and Frank W. Pafford of Cottage Hill Community.
Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. Wiley Whitley of Harlingen, Texas and one brother, Sam Maxwell
of Lawton, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Other survivors are two
step-sons, J. L. Pafford of Claud, Texas and R. J. Pafford of Salina, Kansas,. The late S. K Pafford of
Celina, Texas was also one of her stepsons. (The Celina Record, Celina, Texas, Thursday, August 21,

Robert J. "Bob" Pafford: News was received Sunday that R. J. (Bob) Pafford, 82, died Saturday,
July 13, 1957, in Salina, Kansas, where he lived. Mr. Pafford was a son of Wesley and Martha Pafford
and was born and reared in the Cottage Hill Community. He was a brother of the late S. K. Pafford of
Celina, Texas. Mr. Pafford was one of the organizers of the Salina Brick and Tile Company and had
served as the secretary/treasurer for many years. He was postmaster of Salina for twenty years and was
active in political and civic affairs. He went for a period of 16 years without missing a meeting of the
Rotary Club and represented Rotary in several national and international conventions. Surviving are two
nieces, Mrs. Donna Pace and Mrs. Robert Short. (The Celina Record, Celina, Texas, Thursday, July 18,

Sallie Clotha (McBride) Pafford: Mrs. S. K. Pafford, a resident of Celina, Texas since 1911,
died at her home Saturday night, June 8, 1957, after an illness of several years. The funeral was held at
2:30 Monday in First Baptist Church with Rev. W. J. Epting of Sherman, Texas and Rev. Travis Holland
officiating. Burial was in Cottage Hill Cemetery directed by Helms Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Lee
Rucker, W. P. Willard, Eldon Earthman, J. D. Manes, Earl Norris, Raymond Grumbles, C. G. McKnight,COLLIN CH RONICLES
