Plans Made for Annual High School Day
Br BRUCE CAMPBELL
About 2500 high school stu-
dents are expected Saturday for
the annual Abilene Christian
College High School Day. A full
day of activities is planned to
encourage the students to attend
ACC.
Registration begins at 0 a.m.
The program gets underway at
at 8:30 a.m. with the President's
'Reception in the East Gardner
parlor. President Don H. Morris
the deans the department heads
and other members of the faculty
will be available to visit with
the prospective students and
their parents.
A Cappalla to Sing
At 10 a.m. a special chapel
service will be held in Sewell
Auditorium. President Morris
will welcome the visitors to the
campus college students will
lead them in a devotional service
and a program will be presented
by the A Cappclln Chorus.
At 11 a.m. studenst may dis-
cuss specific areas of study with
department heads in departmen-
tal conferences.
Dormitories will be open to
the high school' students from
11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. From
11:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. the
visiting students and their par-
ents will be served lunch in
Catchlngs Cafeteria as guests of
the college.
Flying Cats to Perform
At 12:30 p.m. the Flying Cats
will perform in Bennett Gym-
nasium to be followed by a pep
rally at 1:05 p.m.
A financial planning session
will be held at 1:30 p.m. In the
College Church-audltorium. Bill-
Hilton assistant business mana-
ger and Ron Perkins full-time
student aid officer will discuss
the costs of a college education
loans scholarships and employ-
ment opportunities.
At 2:15 p.m. in classrooms of
the College Church Building
Clyde Austin director of admis-
sions and placement will speak
on admissions regulations. Clint
Howcth assistant director will
speak to younger students on
suggested high school curricu-
lum. Student Life Session
A student life session will be
conducted at 3 p.m. in the Col-
lege Church auditorium by a
panel of college students moder-
ated by Kip Jordon director of
special services. Panelists were
chosen by Jordon and the stu-
dent association officers because
of their special achievement in
certain areas of college life.
The panel and their areas of
special interest are: Jerry An-
derson Odessa senior athletics;
Mary Delle Hance Del Rio sen-
ior publications; Debbe Mullins
McAllen senior social activities;
Tom Scott Henderson Tenn.

The Graduate Record Aptitude
Exam required of senior candi-
dates for all bachelor's degrees
will be given in the College
Church Auditorium from 8:30 to
12 p.m. Saturday Oct. 22.
The fee for this test is includ-
ed in the graduate fee if the stu-
dent registered before the Sep-
tember deadline. All late regis-
trations will be charged $1.00.

Sadie Hawkins Weekend
SA Predicts Snow

The Students Association pre-
dicts SNOW for this weekend
and Sadie Hawkins will make
her appearance for the event.
Friday Saturday and Sunday
are the days designated for the
annual Sadie Hawkins Weekend.
Girls are encouraged to ask
their favorite fellows for a date
during this weekend and this
is the one weekend set aside
when every girl can have a
chance with her own favorite
beau.
The event is sponsored by the
Students Asosciation and this is
the second year for the event to
be concentrated in a three-day
period instead of the traditional
one week.
The Students Association will
sponsor a movie tonight at 7:30
Dwain Hart and assistant base-
ball and basketball coach Wally
Adams. Former Wildcat All-
American and Olympian athletes
visiting ACC during the simul-
taneous Lettermen's Day will
also be introduced.
The day's activities will be
climaxed by the football game
at 7:30 pjn. in P.E. Shotwell
Stadium against Arkansas State.
Clubs to Assist
Three ACC clubs will aid the
visitors during the day. The
women of Delta Theta will be
hostesses for the President's Re-
ception. Men of Alpha Phi Omega
will be the ushers throughout the
day -and will sell football game
tickets at the ticket booth. The
women of CSO will aid the vis-
iting students in registration.

in Catchlngs Cafeteria as a part
of the activities. They are pre-
senting "The Diary of Anne
Frank" and the costwill be 50
cents for unescorted men and
women. There will be no charge
for couples.
Also in connection with the
event the Kitten Klub is spon-
soring a Hayridc tonight for club
members and their dates. The
hayride will end in a "chuck-
wagon" dinner ut Old Abilene
Town.
The band will be selling bou-
tonnleres for the Arkansas State
game so that boys will be pro-
vided with "mums" for the Sat-
urday night event. They will be
on sale all day today in the ticket
booth.
The event will end Sunday and
matters will return to normal
datewlse anyway.
EVERYBODY AND HER DOG The ACC campus Is begin-
ning to look as though everybody and his or her dog will
be around for High School Day tomorrow. Hopefully many
of the everybodies will return as students in the future
without the dogs.

Will fee Nominated

Nominations for homecoming queen will be taken at the
booth outside the student's exchange on Monday Oct. 24.
Any junior or senior girl may be nominated by a full-
time ACC student. The Senate has changed the nomination
date from Tuesday to Monday to allow more time for check-
ing on qualifications of the nominees. The number of nom-
inations each year total over 100.
Approval by the Senate will be on Thursday Oct. 27
when the eight finalists will be
in chapei TuescFay Nov. 1
An amendment -was presented
to the Senate by Clerk of the In-
terpreter's Council senior Qarol.
Neel. It was proposed that Arti-
cle 2 section 6 of the constitution
read: "The Senate shall meet
twice monthly as designated by
the President ofUje Senate who
may also call special meetings."
The amendment has been re-
ferred to the constitution com-
mittee. Senate President Dennis
Smith requested that the consti-
tution committee begin meeting
each Monday afternoon to evalu-
ate the changes which must be
made on the constitution.
"A constitution that has to be
amended every year is not ade-
quate" Smith stated.
Senior Jimmy Hollifield chair-
man of the TISA committee re-
ported that the constitutions had
been received from the other
member schools of TISA. The
copstltutlons will be evaluated by
the constitution commiitee.
Junior Clark Hornbaker and
sophomore Eddie McCoy have
been appointed by the senate to
attend the Christian College Con-
ference Nov. 4 and 5 at Harding
College.
The annual conference is held
at a different college each year

ciation. Funeral Rites Held
For Russell Lewis
A member of the Abilene
Christian College education fac-
ulty for the last 11 years Dr.
Russell Austin Lewis died in
Abilene Wednesday night.
Funeral services will be held at
9:30 this morning In the College
Church of Christ auditorium.
On learning of Mr. Lewis'
death President Don H. Morris
said:
"Mr. Lewis contributed much
to a wide area of education in
Texas as superintendent of
schools in Carrizo Springs Taft
and Austin he had an influential
part in the development of Texas
schools.
"He served ACC during two
periods in the early 1920's and
since 1950. As director of gradu-
ate studies in education he has
meant much to our teacher train-
ing program. Since Sept. 1 he
has served as acting dean of the
Graduate School during the ill-
ness of Dean Fred Barton."
Dr Lewis attended Southwest
Texas State Teachers College
received his bachelor's degree
from ACC and received his mas-
ter's and doctor's degrees from
the University of Texas.
His college teacher career also
included terms at Kingsville
