Elementary
Archer City Elementary will
host the Kindergarten Round-up
Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 pm in the
school library. To be eligible, the
child must be 5 yrs. old on or before
September 1, 2003. Please bring
your child’s birth certificate, social
security card and shot record. In-
formation about kindergarten and a
tour of the classrooms will be given
at this time. If you cannot attend
the meeting, please contact the el-
ementary office as soon as possible
with enrollment information.

Registration
The Windthorst School Dis-
trict is announcing Kindergarten
regis-tration for the 2003-2004
school year on Thursday, April 24th
from 8:30-12:00. This will be an
opportunity for your child to meet
with a kindergarten teacher and to
have a short screening visit. You will
need to bring your child’s shot
records, birth certificate, and social
security card. You will be sent the
results of this screening session. We
look forward to meeting with our

Holliday Elementary
School yearbook sale
extended
The Holliday Elementary
School has extended the sale of their
2003-2004 yearbook until April 17,
2003.
The yearbook will include
sports and other activities the chil-
dren participated in during the school
year.
An order form can be filled
out and turned in at the office. The
cost will be $15.00.
A pizza party will be given to
the class with the highest sales.

pearance will be conducted each
weekday at the Archer City Hall
from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. be-
ginning today, April 16, 2003 and
ending on April 29,2003.

Lost & Found
LAST CALL!!!!! There is a
lost and found table located in the
elementary building and one in Mr.
Schenk’s office with numerous
clothing articles of all sizes. Please
stop by or ask your child to stop by
to check and see if any of these ar-
ticles belong to your child. We will
take any clothing that is still here af-
ter May 1st to the Goodwill.
Father Son Baseball
Game Planned
The 4th annual Windthorst Tro-
jans Father-Son baseball game will
be played on Tuesday, April 22nd at
Trojan Field. There will be a conces-
sion stand accepting donations for
those who want to come out and
make an evening out of good food
and good fun. Raffle tickets for many
great prizes will be sold in conjunc-
tion with this event. The girl’s soft-
ball team and boys baseball team will
be collecting raffle items from any-
one who is interested in donating a
prize. They will also be selling
chances on the raffle items beginning

School flag pole up
The Holliday Middle School
would like to extend an invitation to
anyone in the community that would
like to fly their commemorative flag
on their new flag pole in
rememberance of a loved one. For
further information call Mr. Kemper,
Middle School Principal at 586-
1314.
April 14th. Proceeds from raffle sales
and donations will be shared by both
the softball program and baseball
program. As you know there is no
admission fee to come watch the
girls and boys play until the playoffs
begin. Proceeds will help supplement
the cost of the softball and baseball
programs. Any dad who wants to
play a little baseball against their son
just need to show up the night of
April 22nd at 7:00 p.m. We under-
stand that Gerald Schreiber will be
acting as Casey Stengel and will
make the line-up.
Lagena Hostas
Memorial Gazebo
Archer City ISD will con-
struct a Gazebo in remembrance of
Mrs. Lagena Hostas. Mrs. Hostas
was a beloved 4th grade teacher at
Archer City Elementary that passed
away in January due to cancer. Any-
one wishing to donate to the Gazebo
fund can do so by sending it to:

The Holliday Elementary
School would like to remind you of
important dates to come.
School will let out at 1:30 p.m.
on Thrusday, April 17th and there
will be no school on Good Friday,
April 18th. Also the Kindergarten
music program will be April 24,
2003 at 6:30 p.m. at the school. There
will be a bad weather make up day
on Friday, April 25th.

Pre-K Round Up
Windthorst Independent
School District is announcing Pre-
K Round-up for the 2003-2004
school year on Thursday, April 24th
from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the elemen-
tary building. This is for children
who are ages 3 and 4 as of Septem-
ber 1, 2003. First placement prior-
ity will be given to 4 year olds who
are LEP (Limited English Profi-
cient) and/or who qualify for the
Free-Reduced Meal Program. Sec-
ond placement priority will be given
to 3 year olds who are LEP and/or
qualify for the Free-Reduced Meal
Program. You will need to bring
vour child’s shot records, birth cer-
tificate. and social security card.
This is an excellent time for you and
your child to meet with the Pre-K
teacher, Mrs. Mary Blagg and to have
a short screening assessment. Please

TAKS/TAAS
Pep Rally
A TAAS Pep Rally will be held
Monday, April 21st, at 1:00 P.M. in
the renovated gym for students in
Grades 3-9. All students who
received Academic Recognition on
the TAAS in the 2001 -02 school year
will be recognized for their high
achievement. Academic Recog-
nition is attained by scoring 95% or
higher on any subject tested. The
subjects tested by grade level last
year are as follows: Reading for
Grades 3-8, Math for Grades 3-8,
Writing for Grades 4 and 8, Science
for Grade 8, and Social Studies for
Grade 8.
The pep rally is also intended to
highlight the importance of this
year’s TAKS tests, which will be
given April 29th through May 2nd.
All students will be treated to ice
cream after the assembly for their
efforts in preparing for the TAKS.
Parents are welcome to attend this
important celebration of our
school’s academic excellence.
Rehab Center
Hosts Summer
Sports Camp
The North Texas Rehabilita-
tion Center will be hosting a sum-
mer strength and conditioning pro-
gram in Archer City at the Archer
City High School June 9-July 25,
2003 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The camp
is open for incoming 7lh
Graders through 12th Graders
The camp’s sport-specific
training programs for strength,
power, agility, speed and endurance
designed by Licensed Physical
Therapists are geared to enhance ath-
letic performance and minimize
risks of injury. Education for proper
lifts and techniques will help athletes
compete safely.
Cost for the camp is $20 per
week or $ 100 for the entire six-week
program. Scheduled sessions run
Monday through Thursday each
week.

Holliday FFA qualified
three teams for State
Holliday FFA left Tarleton State University Wednesday and the
Area IV FFA judging contest with 3 teams qualified for State and one
near miss. The LAND team, Jay Franklin, Mike Wadsworth, Brad
Stanford & Richard Duncan, placed first and will compete for state.
With 145 judgers overall Jay Franklin was second high individual and
Mike Wadsworth placed fifth. The Range & Pasture judging team, Dustin
Jackson, Kyle Wood, Adam Williams and Brad Ezzell, placed fourth and
also qualified for state. Jackson placed sixth with Wood at 12th Williams
at 15th and Ezzell finishing at 16th. The Forage team of Ray Shook, Wil-
liam Mitchell, Richard Gamer & Holden Moore placed third and also
will compete at the state level on April 24th at Tarleton State in
Stephenville.
Eric Stubblefield placed second high in the AG Mechanics contest
with Michael Lewis 21st and Coleton Little in 26th place. Craig Styles
was also a member of the team. The team finished fourth in Area and
just missed a trip to state by one point.
These combined wins gave the Chapter the “District Sweepstakes”
award for the Wichita FFA District. There are 17 schools in the district
ranging in various sizes from A to AAAA.
The Wildlife team will compete on the April 17th at Tarleton for
a chance to advance to the State competition.
