Student Rally Day
Dr. John C. Stevens ACU chancellor and
John Tyson graduate student from Hurst
and coordinator of Summester attended a
Student Rally Day Saturday and Sunday at
the Westend Church of Christ in Nashville
Tenn.
All high school students within 200 miles
of Nashville were invited to the rally along
with representatives from most of the
Christian colleges around the country
Stevens said. The purpose of the rally was
to encourage Christian education.
"The significant thing about the rally"
said President William J. Teague "is that
individuals of a congregation are taking
the lead to promote Christian education in
general."
Stevens spoke in the Sunday morning
service at Westend and Tyson taught the
high school class said Stevens.
Business forum
Allen Tappe university minister for
Hillcresl Church of Christ will speak on
"Business and the Christian" at Business
Forum at 4 p.m Wednesday in Cullen
Auditorium.
The speech will deal with practical
suggestions for Christians going into the
business world Jappe said including how
to progress in business and how to sell
yourself.
Before he began preaching in 1979
Tappe worked for the MTS Mortgage
Corporation where he was vice president
and a partner in the business.
Tappe said he began at the lowest
position in the business and during the
eight years he worked in mortgage
banking he worked his way to the position
of vice president.
New ICUT president
Carol McDonald Moak has replaced Dr.
Robert D. Hunter vice president of ACU
as the new president of the Independent
Colleges and Universities of Texas.
Before becoming president of ICUT she
was an administrative assistant to Texas
Lt. Gov. William P. Hobby Jr.
Moak is a 1972 graduate of Austin
College with a bachelor of arts degree in
philosophy and American studies. She also
has received the Master of Arts degree in
American civilization from the University
of Texas in 1975 and Master of Public
Affairs from the LB J School of Public
Affairs at UT in 1977.
Moak was selected from about 150
candidates in a nationwide search said
Hunter. Previously Hunter had been
serving only part time and the
organization needed a full-time president.
Spring Break Campaign
Doug Kostowski minister at Central
Church of Christ in Miami Fla. will speak
to Spring Break campaigners in the Living
Room of the Campus Center Friday at 7 : 30
p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. said Larry
Nelson Students' Association director of
spiritual affairs.
Kostowski will talk about campaign
preparations and what the students should
expect from the campaigns said Nelson.
Spaces for more students still are
available in each of the campaigns he
said and campaign directors will be at the
meetings for sign-ups. All interested
students are encouraged to attend.
