THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET.
For President:
GOVERNOR WOODROW WILSON of New Jersey.
For V-President:
GOVERNOR THOMAS R. MARSHALL of Indiana.
This was the ticket completed by the Democratic Na-
tional Convention at 1:56 a. m. Wednesday.
The nomination of Governor Marshall for Vice-Presi-
dent came as something of a surprise, for when the night’s
balloting for Vice-President began it seemed that the Bry-
an-Wilson contingent in the convention had definitely set-
tled upon Governor John E Burke of North Dakota.
There was not 'much of a fight, however, and when
two ballots disclosed Marshall easily in the lead, Governor
Burke’s name was withdrawn and Governor Marshall was
proclaimed the nominee by acclartiation. A minute later
the convention had adjourned sine die.

Bad Spells
“I suffered, during girlhood, from womanly weakness,”
writes Mis. Mollie Navy, of Walnut, N. C. "At last, I was
almost bed-ridden, and had to give up. We had three
doctors. All the time, 1 was getting worse. I had bad
spells, that lasted from 7 to 28 days. In one week, after I
gave Cardui a trial, 1 could eat, sleep, and joke, as well as
anybody. In 8 weeks, I was well. I had been an invalid
for 5 weary years 1 Cardui relieved me, when everything
else failed.”
CAROL! I Woman’s Tonic

Your Dollar Buys More
When you buy a Studebaker E M F “30” or Studebaker-
Flanders “20” you get more for your money, dollar for
dollar, than in any other car built.
There may be other good cars—but what is their price?
That’s the rub. If they really are good cars, they neces-
sarily cost more because comparatively few are built. Some
poor cars, you know, are high priced too, so that the dealer
can fool you by cutting the price. What a car is realty
worth, not what it costs, should be your standard.
The Studebaker Corporation has the largest and best
automobile factories in the world. We could build and sell
any competing car today for less money than its present
price. In your Studebaker-E-M-F “30” or Flailders “20’\
you get full value, because the biggest factories and the
best brains in the industry build these cars.

Meeting Was Postponed.
The regular quarterly meeting of
.the German-American Alliance
I was not held on the 30th ult. as
I advertised, a postponement being
deemed necessary on account of the
river bridge being closed. The
members living on this side of the
river would not have been able to
appear at the Bluff unless some one
than one inch or one and a half
inches deep, and make a soft cush-
ion or mulch on top of the soil, the
major of this moisture can be con-
served for the use of the crop, in-
stead of being pumped out by myr-
iads of small pores or tudes that
operate actively like so many steam
jets, when the surface of the ground
is hard. If this character of culti-
vation is repeated just as often as
the condition of the top soil indi-
cates the necessity for this work,
splendid crops can be made with
the moisture that is already in the
soil, in all sections where there
was anything like a good rain fall.
Do not lay your crops by, but con-
tinue this shallow cultivation that
will put air in the soil, keep the
weeds down and prevent the loss of
moisture by this pumping process.
