Sport news
For the second time this season,
the Ellinger-Weimar baseball game
has been called on account of wet
grounds. The two teams were due to
meet in one of the most exciting
games of the season. The weather con-
tinued to drizzle until late in the af-
ternoon, thus necessitating postpone-
ment of the match.
Ellinger motors to Burton next
Sunday where they expect to win the
game and even up the percentage with
the Tigers. The Tigers defeated the
locals on the local diamond several
wieks ago in a 10 inning battle, af-
ter M. Neumann, the Ellinger first
baseman was injured and forced out
of the game due to injuries. It promi-
ses to be an interesting game at Bur-
ton Sunday.
Switching from baseball to soft ball,
the local soft ball team, who have
lost only one game this season, and
who are leading the Fayetteville soft
ball league, went over to Fayetteville
last week Friday and gave the Fay-
etteville FFA boys another beating,
14 to 7. The locals touched T. Kovar,
FFA hurler for 13 blows and this fi-
gure with the addition of six free
passes and two hits by pitcher, they
ran 14 tallies across the plate, al-
though the FFA boys played a good
game and chalked up only one error
against themselves, while the local
boys committed three. B. Kovar was

Just the other cveaing—and there
was Sam, out in the kitchen with an
apron on. helping his miasns wash
the sapper dishes. (And then I
learned later he’d helped cook the
anpper, too.) ,
Of course, Sam could have set-
tled into his favorite chair, en-
joyed his evening glass of beer,
and left all the messy kitchenwork
to Dixie. But he kind of likes her
edmpany — and she in turn cer-
tainly appreciates his help.
In fact, sharing the honsework
and the mealtime chorea la sort of
a bond between them ... like shar-
ing that friendly glasa of beer to-
gether. when the work is done. It’s
one of those little all-important
things in marriage.
From where I ait, the time that
a man and wife can spend with
each other in this busy world today
is ail too precious. And the more
things they can do together, the
better.
