Frater Sodalis raises funds to help church
Nathan Boyd
Stuckni Reporter
The men's social ckb Fref"
Sodatls organized a fuwl-ralser to
save a small Church of Christ in i
rural East Texas town last week.
The Clearvicw Church of Christ
in Van is the home congregation of
Brian Nations a member of Frater
Sodalts.
The church has recently ran into
financial difficulties.
The church has 20-30 members
and is not collecting enough
money to pay .its bills. '.'
Matt .Gang senior graphic
design major from Indianapolis
said that he and a few of the other
members of Frater Sodalis took the
initiative to start the fund-raising
after Nations asked the club to
pray for the situation during the
club's meeting. '
"Praying for something is good
but kfe lo food to act on it" sW

the patt year.

The club later became affiliated
with the project.
During last week the' club raised
$407 dollars short of the $300
goal.
The money that was raised last
week will be combined with the

Gang sum that the combined
money raising efforts of Frater
Sodalis Lubbock Christian Uni-
versity and other churches should
reach between $1200-1500.
Gang said that he would l)ke for
an effort similar to the one con-
ducted for the Clearvicw Church
of Christ to be invoked every year.
"Whether Its Frets or a grtwp of
ACU students it doesn't really mut-
ter" Gang said.
Gng said the efforts In the
future could benefit other churches
with financial problems.
If no church was brought to
attention the money could be given
to a family m need of financial
help Gang said.
Frater Sodalis does not typically
participate in fund raising activi-
ties Gang said. The club did
donate money to Habitat for
Humanity earlier In the year
Gang said that he does not thktk
the church members know about
the efforts to raise money for the
congregation.
The money will be compiled
and given to ACU who will write a
check for the full amount to be
Siresented to die church In the next
cw weeks.
