Several students are standing near the second, "L" addition entrance. The addition was probably made in 1937 or 1938. "The younger kids in the addition, older kids in front. Sliding door separated the rooms. Two teachers. George School had school desks with ink wells in the desk. Box suppers to raise money for the school, held at night, to buy Christmas gifts for the school kids. People from Richmond/ Rosenberg, would bid on the boxes in an auction. Person who made the box ate with the person who bought it. Decorated boxes real pretty, and sealed. Contents were a surprise: sandwiches, cookies, cake. For children in George School only. Mid-year, in the summertime, midterm."

Photograph of the George Ranch yard with the Nancy Jones oak tree limbs providing shade for the large area. According to the "1996 George Ranch Historical Park Interpreter Training Manual", the tree was planted by Nancy Jones in 1824. The young woman in the swing (attached to the oak tree limb) is probably Mary Ann Myers. The woman sitting (back to camera) on the bench of a wooden picnic table is possibly Marie Murphy. There are two other wooden picnic tables just beyond a stone walkway that seems to lead from the tree trunk and off to the left side of the photograph. A large shrub on the left side of photo partially obscures the view of buildings. White wooden building in center background. White wooden fence in front of Barn 1.
