Description: Copy of transcript for a letter from W. S. Parrott to Stephen F. Austin, in which Parrott informs Austin that John Colburn, (a man claiming to come from Austin's colony), has stolen money using falsified credentials. Parrott also asks Austin to keep a look out for Colburn and Pearly S. Girard (the man believed to be his accomplice), and to areest them both on sight.

[Diary of Henry Matthews - 1833-1840]

Description: Henry Matthews (1799-18?) was a Methodist circuit rider, schoolteacher, and practicing physician from Ohio, who made his way from Ohio, through the Illinois Territory, to Texas. Primarily a circuit-riding preacher and schoolteacher in his early days in Ohio, Matthews practiced medicine more formally in the 1830s and 1840s in San Felipe, Texas, where Matthews and his wife Miranda eventually settled.
