A Cappella Choir Plans
Spring Music Tour
Another in a series of spring
trips by the Howard Payne Col-
lege A Capella Choir will see
the organisation make four
appearances in three days April
26-27-28.
Friday (April 26) they will
appear at the First Baptist
Church in Killeen, with the pro-
gram starting at 8 p.m.
Saturday at 7:30 p.m., they
will perform at the First Baptist
Church in Lampasas. They will
be at the Sunday morning wor-
ship of the First Baptist Church
in San Angelo and Sunday night
they will sing during the Eldor-
ado First Baptist Church ser-
vices.
Forty-four students comprise
the choir which is directed by
Dr. O. J. Bryson.
Mike Gillespie of Kerrville is
president of the organization.
Other officers are Danny Hern-
andez, vice - president, Galves-
ton ; Terry Holly, secretary-
treasurer, Artesia, N.M.; Jimmy
Stohler, robe chairman, Hous-
ton; Jerry Fleming, business
manager, Tyler; and David
Lowe, accompanist, San Ang-
elo.
Other members of the choir

Frankenfeld, Buddy Zipp, San

FOR MISS HPC CONTEST
Miss Howard Payne College
will be chosen May 4 in a pag-
eant beginning at 8 p.m. in the
Brownwood Coliseum under the
Brownwood Jaycees* sponsor-
ship, said Kerry D. Alford, co-
chairman for the pageant.
Winner of the crown will re-
ceive a trophy, a $200 grant-in-
aid from HPC, plus a new swim
suit and evening gown and ex-
pense-paid trip to the Miss Tex-
as pageant The runner-up will
receive a $100 grant-in-aid plus
a trophy, while the second run-

The 14 competing finalists
were selected on the basis of
preliminary interviews. Each fi-
nalist will be sponsored by a
local business, social club or
service organization.
A straight admission charge
of $1.25 will be charged and in-
clude the pageant program, Al-
ford said. Entertainment will be
divided into four or five seg-
ments during the evening's
events. Miss Mary Lou Butler,
Miss Texas of 1966, and her sis-
ter, who are touring the state
with a supper club act will per-
form. HPC students, including
Roz Ratliff, Georgia Lou Price,
Julie Carter, also will provide
entertainment ,
Judges will include Mrs. Seale
Cutbirth, former Mrs. Texas;
Miss Sandy Ray, and three of
the five panel members who
comprise the judges for the Miss

Rabbi Mordecai Podet of Tem-
ple Rodef Sholom, Waco, will
represent tlie Jewish Chautau-
qua Society as lecturer at How-
ard Payne Wednesday and
Thursday. The rabbi will speak

in chapel Wednesday on the sub-
ject "Are There Doctrines
Shared By Christians and Jews."
The rabbi lectures on college
campuses under* the auspices of
the Jewish Chautauqua Society,
an organization which creates
better understanding of Jews
and Judaism through education.
The Jewish Chautauqua Society
is sponsored by the National
Federation of Temple Brother-
hoods.

ticipate in the annual Honors
Day program held in conjunc-
tion with the Parent's Weekend
activities on campus May 3-4.

will' deliver the invocation and
Dr. A. J. Quinn, retiring profes-
