STUDENT FINANCIAL AID 21
An attainment scholarship of $150 per
semester for a full-time student or $75 per
semester for a part-time student enrolled
for at least 6 semester hours is offered to
any freshman student who has an ACT
composite score of 25 or 26 or who has a
total score of 1020 to 1090 on the Scholastic
Aptitude Test.
These scholarships are valid for 8
semesters or the equivalent provided the
student maintains a grade point average
of 3.00 as a freshman, 3.20 as a sophomore,
and 3.50 as a junior or senior.
Ministerial Grants
-- The Baptist General Convention of
Texas grants $10.00 per semester hour on
the tuition of Southern Baptist ministerial
students. The University adds $10.00 per
semester hour. All approved ministerial
undergraduate students who file copies of
certificates of ordination or license and
- who are active members of a Southern
Baptist church will upon application be
granted this amount.
In addition to meeting the general
requirements of Bible 1301 and 1302,
every ministerial student who is receiving
a certificate of credit must take Theology
_ 3321 and Christianity 3341, maintain an
overall 2.00 G.P.A., and cooperate with
the Office of In-Service Training. Application
should be made with the Director of
" In-Service Training in the Logsdon School
of Theology.
National Merit Scholarships
A'w National Merit Finalists will receive a
scholarship which, when combined with
other scholarships and grants, will cover
all direct expenses (tuition, fees, room,
board, and books). This scholarship will
remain in effect for eight regular semesters
so long as the student maintains at
least a 3.50 grade point average.
National Merit Semifinalists will receive
an award which will amount to threefourths
expenses. The conditions will be
the same as for finalists.
The "Top 50" Scholarship
_ The "TOP 50" Scholarship package is
awarded to individuals graduating from
Cooper High School, Abilene High
School, Abilene Christian High School orWylie High School, who are designated by
their schools as being a "TOP 50"
Scholar. The package consists of two
awards: (1) an honors scholarship in the
amount of $300 per semester, and (2) a
tuition scholarship for entering students in
the amount of $500 per semester, for a
total award of $800 per semester. These
awards are renewable for eight semesters
provided the recipient maintains the necessary
grade point average and is
enrolled as a full-time student during the
semester for which the award is made.
Transfer Scholarship
A student who transfers to Hardin-Simmons
with a grade point average of 3.50
on 30 or more semester hours of HSU
equivalent work may receive a tuition
scholarship of $400 per semester.
Transfer students accepting this scholarship
are not eligible to receive the Honors
or the Attainment Scholarships. The student
must maintain a GPA of 3.50 or
higher to continue receiving this award.
Tuition Scholarship for Entering
Students
Tuition scholarships are awarded to fulltime
undergraduate students entering
Hardin-Simmons University for the first
time who fall into one of the following
categories:
1. An entering freshman with an ACT
composite score of 24 or 25, or a
total score of 1000 to 1050 on the
SAT, may receive a tuition scholarship
of $250 per semester.
2. An entering freshman with an ACT
composite score of 26 or better, or a
total score of 1060 or better on the
SAT, may receive a tuition scholarship
of $500 per semester.
These awards are valid for eight semesters
provided the recipient maintains an
overall grade point average of 3.50 or
better.
