Evan Allard Reiff Memorial
Scholarship
During the 1968-69 academic year,
friends and associates of Dr. and Mrs.
O Evan Allard Reiff established the Evan
Allard Reiff Memorial Scholarship in memory
of Doctor Reiff, who served as the
tenth president of the University from
" 1953-1962.
The recipient of the Evan Allard Reiff
Memorial Scholarship shall have comp
pleted one full semester's work (a minimum
of 12 hours) at Hardin-Simmons
University prior to the semester in which
the award is to be made. The scholarship
shall beopen to students of all classifications
and all majors. The recipient is to be
chosen by a special committee appointed
by the President of the University. The
recipient shall be one who has exhibited a
constant and successful effort to achieve
and maintain the goal of academic excellence,
must be actively and enthusiastically
dedicated to the ideals of Christian
service, and have need of financial assistance.
Special emphasis shall be placed
on the recipient's academic achievement.
This scholarship of $200 will normally be
presented at the spring awards assembly
by the President of Hardin-Simmons
University.
The full amount of this scholarship shall
be credited to the recipient's account in
the Hardin-Simmons University Business
Office.
Marguerite Sandefer Trust Fund
The J. Marguerite Sandefer Grant was
established in 1969 by Mr. Joe E. Ward,
independent executor under the will of J.
,, Marguerite Sandefer. The First-Wichita
National Bank of Wichita Falls serves as
trustee. Income is to be applied to the
tuition, books, and fees of a deserving
freshman girl for her first year in HardinSimmons
University. The recipient is to be
chosen by a committee of three: (1) the
pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of
Wichita Falls, (2) the trustee, and (3) the
President of Hardin-Simmons University.
Miss Sandefer was the niece of the late
President Jefferson Davis Sandefer and
was a 1925 graduate of this institution.Charlotte Shuffield Scholarship
This scholarship is funded annually by
the husband and children of the late Charlotte
Shuffield. The recipient, selected by
the Dean of the Irvin School of Education,
must have a grade point average of at
least 3.00 and must be an outstanding
student in Education. The amount of the
scholarship is $50 per semester.
U.S. Veterans Administration Health
Professional Scholarship Program for
Baccalaureate Nursing Students
The V.A. Scholarship program is available
only to nursing students enrolled in/or
accepted for enrollment as a full-time student
in a NLN accredited baccalaureate
nursing program. Nursing students may
apply before entering their junior or senior
year in the School of Nursing. Applicants
must be citizens of the United States. Benefits
include tuition and fees, payment for
other reasonable educational expenses
as determined by the School of Nursing
(for example, books), and payment of a
monthly stipend. All benefits are exempt
from Federal taxation.
The applicant must agree to serve one
year of full-time employment in a V.A. hospital
for every year of scholarship support.
Applications for the academic year must
be requested from the Veterans Administration
by May, and must be received in
the V.A. Scholarship Office by June. For
further information, contact the Financial
Aid Office or the Dean of the School of
Nursing.

Tuition Reimbursement Plan -
Humana's Tuition Reimbursement Plan is
designed to give financial assistance to
employees who obtain additional formal
job-related education and training during
their employment with West Texas Medical
Center. The hospital recognizes that
such education and training will improve
employees' knowledge and skills, and
thereby improve the quality of health care.
Further, it increases employees' competence
in their present positions and prepares
them for future advancement.
