A study of types of literary works as regards
their distinctive style, form, or content. Topics
have included The Short Story, Mythology, Literature
of the Southwest. May be repeated
when topic varies.

3302 The Romantic Period (3-3-0)
The poetry of Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron,
Shelley, Keats and others; the essays of Lamb,
Hazlitt, DeQuincey, and others.

3303 American Studies: The Rise of
Realism and New Directions (3-3-0)
Study of American literature from the Civil War
to World War I.

The poetry of Browning, Tennyson, Arnold, and
others; the prose of Arnold, Carlyle, and

and poetry; selected studies in significant Middle-English
writings.

changes in the English language in the course
of its history.

Twentieth century American and British poetry.
Studies include range, direction, and diversities
of the poetry of selected poets.

poetic schools of Donne and Jonson, and
