GENERAL INFORMATION BULLETIN 37
Students desiring to operate an airplane, take flying lessons, or
ride in airplanes as passengers must submit to the appropriate Dean
written permission from their parents or guardians unless they are
twenty-one years of age or older.
The sale of supplies or soliciting of business in the dormitories is
prohibited.
Students are advised against keeping articles of value, especially
money and expensive jewelry in their rooms. The University assumes
no responsibility for articles of value kept in the rooms.
Special house regulations are obtainable from the appropriate Dean.
Loss of Personal Property.-The University is not responsible for
the loss of personal property belonging to students in any building
owned by the University, whether the loss result from theft, fire, or
unknown cause.
Quantity of Work.,The normal amount of work for which a student
may receive credit during a semester is 15 semester hours exclusive
of physical training.
A student may register for 18 semester hours of work if his average
grade is 85 on a minimum of 15 semester hours for the preceding
semester.
A student may be given permission by the Faculty to register for
21 semester hours of work if, during the preceding semester, he made
an average grade of 90 on a minimum of 15 semester hours.
Not more than one credit hour per week can be earned in any summer
or special session. The current 9 weeks summer school makes
possible enrollment for a maximum of 9 hours of credit. In calculating
the load for summer school a laboratory science of 4 hours shall be
considered as one-third of the load, and two 3 hour courses in addition
may be carried.
Final Examinations.-Final examinations are held in all departments
at the close of each semester. No exemptions are granted.
Students desiring to take an examination out of schedule for reasons
other than illness may do so with the consent of the instructor
and of the Dean and upon payment of an examination fee of $2.50 at
the Business Office, a receipt for which must be presented to the instructor
at the time of the examination.
Advanced Standing Examinations.-Applications for advanced
standing examinations must be approved by the head of the department
concerned and by the Dean of the Faculty. Application blanks
may be obtained from the Registrar. Only bona fide students cur
