PROFESSOR SCHUHMANN
Course 1.-General Physics
Fall, Wiiter, Spring. Three Hours Class-room
and Three Hours Laboratory a Week.
Credit 1 Course.
This is a systematic study of the fundamental facts
and principles of physics, covering the properties and mechanics
of solids liquids, and gases, and the phenomena of
heat, light, sound, electricity, and magnetism.
The laboratory work consists of the measurement with
standard instruments of such physical quantities as moment
of inertia, surface tension, density; specific heat, coefficient
of expansion; optical constants of lenses and mirrors, wave
lengths of light; speed of sound; resistance of conductors,
e. m. f. of batteries. Laboratory fee, $10.00.
Prerequisite.-Math C and Physics C.
Text-books.-Spinney's A Text-book of Physics; Kuehne's
Laboratory Manual.
Course 2. -Electricity and Magnetism
Fall, Winter, Spring. Two Hours Class-room
and Three Hours Laboratory a Week.
Credit 1 Course.
An intensive study of the principles of electricity and
magnetism, with particular attention given to the modern
theories of the subject and their practical application. The
mathematical side of the subject is developed in a fuller
manner than is possible in the limited time given to the
subject in Course 1.
The laboratory work includes of the accurate measurement
of such quantities as current, e. m. f., temperature
coefficient, capacity, inductance. Laboratory fee, $10.00.
Prerequisite.-Physics 1.
Text-book.-To be selected.
Course 3.-Mechanics and Heat
Fall, Winter, Spring. Two Hours Class-room
and Three Hours Laboratory a Week.
Credit 1 Course.
