Charges filed for False 9-1-1 Call
By Cindy Roller
Editor
Falsely dialing 9-1-1 is
a crime, and Delta County
authorities are making sure
citizens know the repercussions
of their actions.
Delta County Sheriff Ricky
Smith stated, “False 9-1-1
calls are a very serious offense.
On 9-1-1 calls like this our
officers respond as if it was an
emergency, and making such
calls needlessly puts their lives
and the lives of others at risk.”
Last Wednesday, the Delta
County Sheriff’s Office
reported an arrest of Cynthia
Kay Price for a Class A
misdemeanor, False Alarm or
Report. The incident occurred
on April 12,2013 at 11:40 p.m.
shortly after Game Warden
Chris Fried initiated a traffic
stop on West Dallas Ave in
Cooper, Texas. Approximately
four minutes after the traffic
stop a 9-1-1 call was received
reporting a fight with a gun
involved was in progress at the
Cooper City Park.
Deputy Brett Jones responded
to the 9-1-1 call and discovered
no incident or persons that may
have been involved in a fight
or disturbance. Upon follow-
up it was discovered that the
phone call came from a cell
phone of a person who resided
near the traffic stop made by
Game Warden Fried. After
the traffic stop and subsequent
vehicle search was completed
the recorded 9-1-1 call was
reviewed and the voice of a
female residing at the nearby
residence was identified as the
caller.
No telling,
what will
happen
