Summer Vacation Neariy Over

School days are ra-
pidly approaching as
summer vacation time
becomes more trea-
sured for the majori-
ty of school age chil-
dren.
The T-city Indepen-
dent School District has
a full faculty to prepare
for the opening of the
1973-74 school year.
Teachers will reportfor
their first day of work
on Friday, August 17.
Students will report for
their first day of school
on Monday, August 27.
According to Supt. Bur-
ton Hurley, school offi-
cials expect a slight in-
crease in enrollment
over last year.

for Teachers; Aug. 17,

The City of Throck-
morton is in the process
of making use of its re-
venue sharing alloca-
tion check for the per-
iod July 1, 1973 to June
30, 1974. The spending
is based on an Execu-
tive Proposal whichwill
lessen the debt increase
of the City and also
prevent a major tax rate
increase.
The largest expendi-
ture on the agenda is for
a new fire truck; cost
New Residents
New residents in T-
city are Vick Bishop,
his wife, Cindy, and two
year old son, Chad. They
have been residents of
T-city since July 16,
coming here from Stutt-
gart, Ark.
Vick is employed by
General Telephone and
is presently working in
Seymour installing di-
rect dialing services.
When he finishes there
he will install the ser-
vice here.
The Bishop's are re-
siding in Georgia Lilly's
rent house next door
to the Gene Teague re-
sidence.
Another new resident
in T-city is Tony Maz-
zo of Dallas. He works
with Mr. Bishop in Sey-
mour and is living in
Fany Floy Marrs rent
house.
of which is $5,678. The
remainder of the alloca-
tion of $7,098 will be
used in operating
maintenance expendi-
tures.
FHA To Hold
Splash Party
After a secret confer-
ence, the FHA officers
have decided to start
the 1973-74 school year
with a splash! All girls
who will be in high
school this year are in-
vited to a swimming
party on Aug. 16 at 5
p.m.
There will be swim-
ming from 5 to 7 p.m.
followed by a supper in
the city park. All girls
are asked to bring a
sack lunch — drinks will
be provided. Girls are
reminded to bring 75£
for the swim and to
come prepared to have
fun!
Bible Study
The Women's Bible
Study met in the home
of Mrs. Walter Cypert
with 14 present.
Next week they will
meet in the home of Mrs.
Hattie Lilly. They will
be studying the4thChpt.
of Luke.

County Fulfils Quota
In Bloodmobie Vis#
The Red River Red
Cross Bloodmobile Unit
had a most success-
ful trip to Throckmor-
ton Monday, July 30.
For the first time the
county quota of 50 pints
was filled. Of the 58
donors who volunteered,
only four were deferred,
and 19 were first time
donors. It was grati-

fying to know that so
many Throckmorton Co.
residents have already
reached the gallon mark
and several will soon
receive their two-gallon
certificates of recogni-
tion.
Three RN’s and two
’ assistants accompanied
the mobile unit from Wi-
chita Falls. Jan Routon,
BN; Ruth Hext, LVN;
Hattie Maley, LVN; and
Candy Oates, nurses'
aide, assisted in pre-
liminary testing.
Volunteers for the af-
ternoon were Velma
Bailes, Lisa Liles, Lynn
Condron, Jane Merri-

Al Hall
Still Critical
Mr. Al Hall, injured
recently in a fall, has
been transferred back
to Throckmorton Me-
morial Hospital from
Wichita Falls. Mr. Hall
still remains in a coma.
The Hall family is in
need of volunteers to
sit nights with Mr. Hall.

Chief.
