CHESTER V. KIELMAN, "Mary S. Young's Journal of Botanical
Explorations in Trans-Pecos Texas, August-September, 1914," is
an instructor of history at Lee College in Baytown and a candidate
for his Ph.D. degree at the University of Texas. He has previously
contributed to the Quarterly and served as one of its associate
editors for some time.
A. RAY STEPHENS, "Letter from the Texas Secession Convention,
1861: Willard Richardson to George Ware Fulton," is presently
doing research for his dissertation on the history of the Taft Ranch
and its role in the development of the South Texas plains. He
has served as a teaching assistant at the University of Texas and
his article on "D. A. Orviss: Texas Merchant," appeared in the
July Quarterly.
ROGER CONGER, "An 1849 R. M. Williamson Letter," is an
ardent historian of Waco and McLennan County, having pub-
lished a number of articles and books on varied subjects per-
taining to that area. He is also a member of the publications
committee of the Association.
JAMES M. DAY, "The Map Collection of the Texas State Ar-
chives, 1527-1845," is archivist of the Texas State Library and a
Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas. His article "The
Chisos Quicksilver Bonanza in the Big Bend of Texas," appeared
in the April, 1961, Quarterly.
ANN B. DUNLAP, "The Map Collection of the Texas State Ar-
chives, 1527-1845," received her B.A. degree from the University
of Texas in 1959, having also attended Sweet Briar College in
Virginia. She has taught on the high school level, has been em-
ployed as an assistant in the Archives of the Texas State Library,
and is presently with the University of Texas Press.
