VOL.11
No. 11
DENTON, TEXAS,
NOVEMBER 25, 1949
Dear DOINGS Family:
I am sixty-nine today. I have plenty of
sox-—but I like silk ties! Loud ones!
We hear from our frinds:
MILDRED SOLEZ, Girl Scout "Exec”:
"Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every town^in Am-
erica had a similar messenger of good-will?
The DOINGS is especially helpful to me; because
as a new-comer, I’m anxious to get to know my
neighbors.”....1 hope to get a picture of some
of her girls for our January or Feb. number.
Mrs. ROYAL WOOD, Sherman Drive: ”1 had
tasks to do, but I sat right down and read it,
as I always do! Like ’The Man Next Door’ in
Better Homes and Gardens; and Dr, Floyd Poe’s
column in the Dallas News; it is down-Lo-earth,
filled with a sparkling sense of humor that
makes it informative and enjoyable reading."
---Folks that’s Jimmie’s mother; and Jimmie
used to play with Joey Skiles and me.
TILLMAN CARTER, Exec. Asst.,to H. I. Rob-
inson at First Meth. Church, Lubbock: ”1 sat
right down and read it; and I know Viola will
enjoy it even more than I, as^_she knows so
many more of the people than l do."
"Viola"was Viola Loveless.
Mrs. LENA GLADDEN, Southern Hotel: "I
got a few hearty chuckles. It really is a
wonderful thing you are doing; and I hope you
live to see those cracks in that building!"
Mrs. L. M. ELLISON, buying a part for
her wind-shield wiper, said to the clerk:
"Often when I finish reading a copy of The^DO-
INGS , I resolve to say some of the fine things_
I think of people while they are still living.
Mr. Headlee is doing a wonderful thing."....
From Mrs. Ellison that is high praise indeed!
She is the wife of Dr. Ellison, the mother of
Fred and Edith....and a woderful person’.
