WRAP HOLIDAY HAZARDS
Colored gift wrappings add
brilliance and spark to holiday
festivities. However, these wrapp-
ings may release lead and other tox-
ic metals when burned or chewed on
by a child. The National Safety
Council suggests discarding wrapp-
ings as soon as gifts have been open-
ed - without burning them.

Wal-Mart Donates
$500 to SWCD
In continuing their commitment to
help improve and protect our en-
vironment, associates of the Sinton
Wal-Mart recently presented a $500
check to the San Patricio Soil and
Water Conservation District.
The San Patricio SWCD works
with landowners and operators in
solving soil and water related pro-
blems on cropland and rangeland
and with shoreline erosion. All con-
servation programs managed by the
district are of voluntary nature to
the landowner.
“The associates of the Sinton Wal-
Mart are proud to present this check
on behalf of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. as
we demonstrate our commitment to
the land, air and water in our com-
munity,” said Carlos Libson, store
manager.
Powell Brown, chairman of the
San Patricio SWCD, added, “The
district is grateful to Wal-Mart for
this donation. This money will be us-
ed to promote sound soil and water
conservation practices within San
Patricio and Aransas counties.”
Each Wal-Mart store, Sam’s Club,
Wal-Mart’s Hypermart USA and
Distribution Center across the com-
pany’s 32-state trade territory is
making this donation to a non-profit
environmental organization serving
its immediate community, resulting
in a total of $1.3 million to be given
by the company.
