been selected as a member of the
teaching staff for Ooldthwalte
Public Schools, 8upt„ J. T. Jones
announced Tuesday. Mr. Orlffin
will be assigned to the Element-
ary School for teaching and
playground activities.

Supt. Jones stated that after
the special board meeting Mon-
day night one vacancy still re-
mained In the Ooldhtwalte
School raculty. Opening for as-
sistant coach and Social Sci-
ence teacher Is yet to be filled
before the faculty Is completed

along with Boeme, Camp Stan-
ley and 8eguln, will enter the
Hill Country League Baseball
Play-Off this coming Sunday
afternoon. It was announced by
Red Sox manager Clyde Estep.
Mr. Estep attended a special
meeting at Fredericksburg Tues-
day night when details were
worked out for the play-off.
All play-off games will be
played on Sunday afternoon and
the time is 3:00 o'clock.
Number one will play number
four, two out of three games
while number two will play num.

contest. The two winning teams
from this series will then play
for a three out of five finals to
determine the 1955 champion for
the league.
This coming Sunday the Red
Sox will play Seguln at Seguln

ing Tuesday night to sponsor
special dollar days on Friday
and Saturday. September 2 and
3, to coincide with the FREE
Chest X-Ray survey that will
be conducted In Ooldthwalte for
Mills county residents on the
same days.
Committees will be appointed
and details will be worked out
for local merchants to offer
dollar day specials for fall shop-
pers and also give-away of
prizes during the two days. More
details will be announced next
week.

FREE CHEST X-RAY
The FREE Chest X-Ray Sur-
vey will be conducted fey the
Texas State Department of
Health for all Mills County citi-
zens who will take advantage
of this service. This is the
fourth survey for Mills County.
Others having been conducted
here In 1950, 1951 and 1953
In connection with this sur-
vey, general chairman, Warren
P. Duren has announced the

ond Salk Vaccine shot, accord-
ing to an announcement bv Dr

Those who have not done so
may take their inoculation at
Dr. Raley's office on the fol-
lowing Thursday mornings,
August 18 and August 25 from
9:00 to 12:00 noon
There will be no more shots
given after the first of Septem-
ber as the National Foundation
of Infantile Paralysis wishes to
have an accounting of all vac-
cine on hand at that time.

equipment will be checked out to

Goldthwaite Municipal Swim-
ming Pool will be closed after
this coming Sunday, August 21.
Due to cooler weather during
recent days there has been a
decline In Interest In swimming,
so the pool committee deems
It advisable to close the pool
after 8unday
