Werner, Karl Mueller, Jacob
Schulmeyer and Kasche Gert-
were captured by Deputy Consta-
ble Coley Huffman after they had
stopped at tbe home of Joe Gar-
rett, a tenant fanner residing on
the Lon Rundell farm, ten miles
west of Clarendon.
Garrett told officers that the
escaped prisoners, clad in uni-
forms of the Afrtka Korps. stop-
ped at his home and asked for

months now. Of course he was ex-
pecting a letter from his wife, or
perhaps his mom and pop, or may-
be his little girl would have learn-
ed to write by this time. He grab-
bed the card which the mail clerk
proffered him and started to read
“You have been classified,” the
card said, “in 3-A because of de-

American States to Join
Hands in Laredo Tonight
LAREDO, Feb. 19—(AP)—Gov-
ernors of two North American
states will join hands as neighbors
when Laredo opens Its 46th annual
Washington's birthday celebration
here tonight.
Guests of honor will be Gov.
Coke R. Stevenson of Texas and
Gov. Magdalena Aguilar of - the
state of Tamaulipas, Mexico.
The second annual Pan-Ameri-
can Fair and Livestock Show will
open at noon Sunday. Nocbe Mex-
icans, a colorful festival, will be
presented Sunday and Monday
nights, while a band concert and
open bouse are planned at the
Laredo Array Air Field for Mon-
day.
Nuevo Laredo, across the Rio
Grande, will enter the festivities
