INVITATION FOR BIDS
The City Commission of
the City of Mercedes, Texas,
will receive bids for a lump
sum contract to furnishing
all labor, material, equip-
ment and services as shown
and/or described in the
specifications and working
drawings for. the complete
development and construc-
tion of a civic center, Mer-
cedes, Texas, consisting of
community building, swim-
ming pool and buildings, ten-
nis courts, parking, land-
scaping and other miscel-
laneous items, until 4:00 P.
M., C.S.T.; on the 27th day of
July, 1961, at the Mercedes
City Hall, Mercedes, Texas,
at which time and place all
bids will be publicly opened
and read aloud.
Proposed forms of con-
tract documents, including
plans and specifications, are
on file at the office of the City
Secretary of the City of Mer-
cedes, Texas, herein called
the “City**, at the City Hall,
Mercedes, Texas, and at the
office of Gene P. Hobart, A.
I.A., Architect, Highway 83
and mile 2 West, Mercedes,
Texas.
Copies of the documents
may be obtained by deposit-
ing fifty ($50.00) dollars with
the City for each set of docu-
ments so obtained. Such de-
posit will be refunded to each
person who returns the
plans, specifications and
other documents in good con-
dition within 10 days after
bid opening.
A certified check or bank
draft, payable to the City,
U. S. Government bonds, or
a satisfactory bid bond exe-
cuted by the bidder and ac-
ceptable sureties in an
amount equal to 5 percent of
the bid shall be submitted
with each bid.
The successful bidder will
be required to furnish and
pay for satisfactory per-
formance bond and payment
bond.
Attention is called to the
fact that not less than the
minimum salaries and wages
as set forth in the specifica-
tions must be paid on this
project.
The City reserves the
right to reject any or all bids
or to waive any informalities
in the bidding.
No bid shall be withdrawn
for a period of thirty (30)
days subsequent to the open-
ing of bids without the con-
sent of the City.
