Employees Write To Senators
For Continued F-16 Support
Employees are being encouraged to write letters to Texas' two
Senators, Phil Gramm and Lloyd Bentsen, asking them to support
continued F-16 procurement in fiscal 1993.
The Senate Armed Services Committee wants to cancel USAF
F-16 funding after the current fiscal year. The House of
Representatives, on the other hand, has recommended F-16
purchases in 1993 and 1994.
The F- 16 needs support within the Senate to overcome the plan
drafted by Sen. Sam Nunn, chairman of the Armed Services
Committee. Nunn is also proposing that the Air Force use a future
version of the F/A-18 as its new Multirole Fighter to begin
replacing the F-16 fleet sometime after the year 2000.
Representatives of GD's labor unions attended meetings on
Thursday to discuss the new letter-writing campaign.
Boxes have been placed at major gates at the main plant, in the
main plant cafeteria, in the Building 500 lobby, and at the factory's
50-foot aisle to collect letters. GD will pay postage for letters
placed in these boxes.
Sample letters are being provided. Employees may sign and
mail these letters after adding their return address. Hand-written,
personal letters are considered most effective, however.seats,

Jack Buckner, Vice President - Special Programs, is
chairing the 1992 American Heart Walk, to be held
Saturday, October 3, on Fort Worth's Trinity Trail
beginning at 8:15 a.m.
Heart Walk is a 10K, noncompetitive walking

against heart disease. Paid pledges raised through this
annual activity support lifesaving research, education
programs and community service projects.
Paul Brown of Quality Assurance is serving as this
year's Company Leader. Paul invites all interested
employees to participate in this healthy, worthwhile and
enjoyable activity. Walkers, as part of a team, invite
family, friends and co-workers to sponsor them.
Walkers win prizes based on the amount of donations
raised. Interested employees may sign up with the
group representatives listed at the end of this article.
Last year more than 50 civic-minded Fort Worth
businesses participated in the Heart Walk project. This
community event was the single largest Heart Walk in
the nation, involving over 1,000 participants and raising
$85,000 for the fight against heart disease. The goal for
the '92 event is to raise $100,000 locally for this worthy
cause.Heart disease is Fort Worth's number one killer.
Please join in helping to make this year's event another
outstanding success.
