Mrs. M. F. Lambert had as her
guests during the recent week-end a
number of prominent attorneys and
oil men of Houston. They were
Maurice Hirsch and Harry Susman,
well-know in Houston legal circles,
and Ray Richmond, John Weinzierl
and R. Stubblefield, prominent in oh
activity in this section of the state.
Frank Boggs, who was a driller on
one of the first gassers brought in in
this field back in 1926, is in Refugio,
renewing acquaintances among the
oil fraternity, among whom he is well
known. He and Mrs. Boggs are reg-
istered at the Mission Hotel.

Miss Mary Coward and Miss Bebe
Williams spent Thursday of this
week in Houston. They were accom-
panied back to Refugio on the even-

Miss Hattie Nemecek and brother,
Joe Nemecek, both of West, are en-
joying a vacation visit at the home of
their sister, Mrs. J. E. Williams.

were guests last Sunday of Mrs. Ep-
person’s mother, Mrs. H. M. Lewis,

Mrs. B. F. Kelly of Edinburg re-
turned home Thursday morning after
enjoying a few days’ visit at the
home of her sister, Mrs. Davis Ad-
kins.
Miss Julia Kathryn Hataway of
Greenville is the house guest for the
summer in the home of her sister,
Mrs. Claude Bailey.
Mrs. J. M. Turman and Mrs. Clar-
ence Turman returned last Monday
from an extended visit to relatives in
the middle west section of the coun-
try, Mrs. J. M. Turman spending the
time with relatives at her formei
home in Illinois and Mrs. Clarence
Turman with homefolks in Muncie,
Indiana. The latter’s aunt and uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. Jess Halbert of Muncie,
returned with her to Refugio, where
they will spend a couple of weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip G. ' Young
were guests last Sunday evening of
Mrs. Kate Young in Corpus Christi.
John Broker returned here last
week after spending a month on a
drilling job four miles out of Corpus
Christi.
Miss Siddie Grace Bludworth of
Kingsville is the house guest this
week of Mrs. Pat Burke.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson and son,

last week until Sunday with relatives
and friends in Houston.
The many friends of Miss Edna
Payne will be glad to know that she
is almost fully recovered from a se-
rious appendicities operation under-
went two weeks ago in the Woods-
boro Hospital.
A. F. Sayers was in Austin the
first of this week on business.
Mrs. J. J. Hamilton and her son,
Floyd, of Corsicana, are guests, at
this time in the home of Mrs. Ham-
ilton’s daughter, Mrs C. G. Cuthbert-
son.
J. S. Cook,who was confined to his
home the first of the week with ill
ness, has been reported well on the
way to recovery.
Miss Jessie Vance left on Thursday
of last week for San Antonio to at
tend the convention of the Presby-
terian Christian Endeavor in session
there. While in San Antonio she is
the guest of a former schoolmate,
Miss Evelyn Merchant.

a business trip to Houston Wednes-
day, returning Thursday.

Mertie Lovett were in Corpus Christi
Sunday evening visiting Mr. and Mrs.

a Father’s Day picnic given in the

Noble R. Law, who was operated
on Saturday at a Corpus Christi hos-
pital, is doing nicely at the present

night at the Adler ranch in Victoria
County, going to Kenedy Sunday to
attend a birthday dinner of her uncle,
A. F. Kauffman, Sr., where more then
60 guests participated in the dinner.
Mrs. Clay Murphy and Mrs. Ed Sit-
terie spent Friday in Corpus Christi
shopping.
Mrs. E. F. Pitzer and daughter left
Saturday for an extended visit with
homefolks in Waco.
Joe Simmons of Houston spent the
last week-end in Refugio among
friends.
Miss Patsy Adler, who has been in
the Victoria Hospital for a tonsil op-
eration, returned home with her
mother, Mrs. Sam Adler, Thursday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Moss of Rio
Grande came in for a few days’ visit
with homefolks.
Sid Adler of Kenedy was a guest

Colleen and Miss Frankie Lee Risher
to San Antonio last Sunday where
they visited with R. L. Risher, who
is ill in a hospital in that city.

week to attend the funeral of Holmes
Heard.

to Refugio on Monday.
