Finding the engy wgy out If gtlll a popular pastime. One generation
refuaea to learn from ita predecessors that there it no royal road td knowl-
edge, nor hard surface highway to success and achievement.
We find this illustrated in the various comers of every day living How'
many there are who are willing to start out with enthusiasm on a project.
But let obstacles devejop and they quickly lose interest, become discour-
aged and finally quit.*-"”
Persistence is essential in every field of life. A talkative young woman
once bubbled over in conversation with Sir Iaaac Newton:
“O, Sir Iaaac, how did you manage to discover the low of gravitation?"
“By continually thinking about it. my young lady," replied the great
man.
It ia all the aame old doctrine: practice makes perfect; persistence wins
its reward.
i
The same thing works in reverse. A popular writer is quoted as having
said that if he miased attending church and paying hia dues for two or
three months, he h*g8ii to suspect the leaders of the church of being hypo-
crites. If he missed six months, he began to lose confidence in the minister
and to feel that there ought to be a change. His moral was “Preaching that
isn’t paid for isn't appreciated."
We.value most things in life by what they cost us, whether it is money,
hard work or persistence.
.You are cordially invited to worship in the CHURCH of YOUR choice tomorrow and every Sunday
