about the blossoms. The wedding
cake, a tiered confection, was
embossed with rosebuds and let-
tered in ruby with the dates
1897-1937. Cake and candy dain
ties in containers of the chosen
hue completed the appointments
of the board. Seasonal blooms
graced the buffet which also held
all manner of sweet-meats. Mrs.
Mike M. Goldstein registered the
guests who called during the
evening to extend congratula
tions to the honored couple.

Miss Bertha Rosenberg compli-
mented Miss Leah Kaplan and
Miss Anne Kornblith, brides-
elect, with a dinner Saturday
night at Scholl’s. Marigolds in a
blue pottery bowl formed the
centerpiece for the board and
place cards were done in a bridal
theme. The honorees’ plates were
marked by gifts of linen. Covers
were laid for 12 guestfc. The
wedding date of Miss Kaplan and
Max Axelrad has been set for
February 7 and Miss Komblith’s
marriage to Samuel Shainock
will take place March 7.

Mrs. J. A. Levy sailed yester-
day on the SS Algonquin for
six weeks stay with relatives and
friends in Miami and Palm Beach

past week in Galveston visiting
with her daughter, Mrs. Godfrey

with her playing of the harp as
soloist and accompanist to Can-
tor Abraham Friedman and Mr.
Irvittg Glick. Mrs. Bernard
Stretisand offered several dra-
matic selections. The Sisterhood
expresses its sincere appreciation
to the hosts and artists.

NEW LEADERS FOR YEAR
Miss Nora Marshall was named
president of Omega Phi Sigma
sorority at a recent meeting of
the group held .at the home of
Miss Lillian Selzer.
Miss Shirley Gordon was elect-
ed vice president; Miss Ida Kap-
lan, secretary; Miss Anne Topek,
treasurer, and Miss. Edith Rosen,
publicity chairman.
Plans were made at the meet-
ing for the second annual dance
sponsored by the sorority to be
held early in April, according to
Miss Rosen.

BETH ISRAEL SISTERHOOD
The January meeting of the
Sisterhood of Temple Beth Is-
rael on Tuesday the 26th, will be
one of unusual interest. The pro-
gram will consist of current
events of which the most in-
teresting will be an account of
the experiences of the delegate
who attended the thirty-fifth
council of the Union of Ameri-
can Hebrew Congregations in
New Orleans. Five days crowded
with interest and excitement
were enjoyed by all those Amer-
ican Jews and Jewesses who
came to the meeting from every
corner of the land.
The following ladies will be
the hostesses this month; Mrs.
Alfred Alexander, Mrs. Sam
Kayser, Miss Mamie Flaxman,
Mrs. L. M. Lande, Mrs. Sam
Levy, Mrs. Frank Bet tin, Mrs.
Jerome Lasker, Mrs. E. Maier.
Mrs. L. C. Rosenthal and Mrs.
Louis Silver. Reservations for
the luncheon will not be taken
later than 5 p.m. Monday the
25th. Mrs. Abe Zuber is donating
a cake for the attendance prize.
