Mrs. Texas Contest
Winner To Be Named
In Galveston April 15
April 15 is to he a momentous
' day for a Texas housewife,
! identity now unknown. On that
(late in Galveston she will be
crowned Mrs. Texas, to repre-
sent the Lone Star State in the
national finals of the Mrs.
America contest at Fort Lauder-
dale, Florida, in May.
The setting was much the
same at this time last year for
Mrs. Jeanne Flale of Kilgore i
mother of four who is now
reigning Mrs. Texa3, a woman |
chosen to exemplify the best
traits of a homemaker. She had
no idea of entering the Mrs.
America contest until a com-
mittee frotn Kilgore came to
her house to ask her to enter
the homemaking competition.
“Winning the ‘Mrs. Texas’
title,” said Mrs. Hale, “was one
of the richest experiences of my
life and 1 wish every woman
could receive such an honor.
Official entry forms are avail
able at Lone Star Gas Company
and participating appliance
dealers.
Midnight of March 15 is dead-
line for entering this year’s con-
test.
Lone Star is conducting one-
day regional eliminations in
Dallas, Fort Worth, Greenville,
Waco and Abilene, starting
March 31. Winners in these con-
tests will participate in the Tex-
as state finals to be held April
14-15 at Galveston. The new
Mrs. Texas will compete in the
national finals of the Mrs.
America contest to be held at
F’ort Lauderdale, May 1-13. The
contest is open to married
women, at least 21 years of age.
Mrs. Christine Le Fevere of
Wortham won the regional con-
test in Waco and competed in
state finals in Dallas last year.
