Dog found dead in
overnight fire
Denton fire officials said one
dog was found dead in an over-
night fire Monday evening locat-
ed in the 2500 block of Fort
Worth Drive.
Kenneth Hedges, spokes-
man for the Denton Fire De-
partment, said that upon arrival,
firefighters reported smoke vis-

vents of a one-story home short-

Firefighters soon discovered
the fire originated in the kitchen.
A primary search revealed no
occupants, fire officials said,
adding that a secondary search
led to the discovery of a border

Hedges said.
One firefighter suffered mi-
nor injuries when a portion of

attack.
The resident wasn’t home at
the time of the fire and officials
cleared the scene by about mid-
night, Hedges said.
The cause of the fire remains
under investigation and more
than $12,000 in damages to the
home and its contents were re-
ported.
