Washington, 1). ;C., July 24.-
Willis J. Abbott, recognized as
Bryan’s personal Washington rep-
resentative, told the United Press
today that while he had no official
authority from Mr. Bryan for mak-
ing the announcement in his liehalf
he had every reason to believe that
the ! Nebraskan would be a candi-
date for the..presidency of 1908-on
the democratic ticket. Word
comes from the west, too.tlwt the
farmal announcement of Bryan’s
candidacy will, he made by him
personally at a great dinner early
in the fall'. The arrangements are
now to give this Pinner in Lincoln
tM home of Mr. Bryan, and the
Nebraska man is expected on this
occasion to express his willingness to
again stand as the eanditate for
his party if his party wants him.
Bryan still has almost the solid
backing of the west, and it is not
believed lie has lost any of his
strcngtii in the South.—Palestine
