District to offer athletic
physicals on March 11
The school district’s athletic
department is offering athletic
physicals for the 2015-16 school
year beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 11, at the La-
Grone Advanced Technology
Complex, 1504 Long Road.
Physicals cost $10 per athlete
and can be paid by cash or a
check made payable to Denton
ISD Athletics. Copies of physi-
cals will be made available. A
student who would like a copy of
his or her physical must submit
a self-addressed, legal-sized en-
velope and a $1 payment at the
checkout table.
Athletic physicals are re-
quired for all seventh-, ninth-
and llth-grade students as well
as any student-athlete new to
Denton ISD who is planning to
compete in a sport during the
upcoming school year.
Students receiving physicals
are asked to wear shorts, T-
shirts and flip-flops or slide san-
dals. They should enter the ATC
at its north end near the Cosme-
tology Department.
Information packets must be
completed before the physical
can be performed, with physi-
cals offered on a first-come, first-
served basis.

Programs,” then ‘Athletics” and
then “2015-16 Physical Packets.”
Packets must be filled out before
entering the building.

Fifth-grade transition
meetings scheduled
The school district will have
its annual fifth-grade transition
meetings at 6:30 p.m. Monday,
Feb. 23, at each of the seven
middle schools.
The meeting will feature an
information session geared for
parents and students to learn
about their particular feeder
middle school and what it has to
offer. Those in attendance will
be able to meet the principal,
counselors and teachers, learn
about elective choices, get infor-
mation on athletic teams and
extracurricular clubs, and get
tips on how to make a smooth
transition from elementary to
middle school.

Junior Fillies dance clinic
slated for Saturday
Denton High School’s Fillies
drill team will conduct its annu-
al dance clinic for girls from 9
a.m. to noon Saturday at the
main school gym, 1007 Fulton

Harpool Middle School
Benefit golf tournament
slated for March 2

Under the direction of Kerri
Burgess and Kristina Shelburne
and drill team members, girls
who register will learn and par-
ticipate in dance routines,
games and more. They will also
be able to perform in the Fillies
Follies spring show, though par-
ticipation is not required.
Registration is underway,
and the cost is $30. Event-day
registration will begin at 8:30
a.m. at the Denton High gym.
Each participant will receive a
Junior Fillies T-shirt, snacks and
a ticket to the Fillies Follies
show.
Registration is $100 per per-
son — $400 per foursome — be-
ginning at 11:30 a.m. the day of
the tournament. The event will
begin with a shotgun start at 1
p.m., and will be followed by an
awards dinner at 6 p.m.
