Fitch Ratings reviewed Den-
ton’s municipal bonds for 2015
and rated them ‘ AA+” and called
the city’s outlook “stable.”
The city announced $34.26
million in bonds for sale the week
of Aug. 17. The city’s total out-
standing debt is also rated ‘AA+.”
Analysts said debt in the city
was above average because of
overlapping burdens between the
city and the school district. How-
ever, analysts also said the burden
on the budget for long-term
needs — debt service, pensions
and other employment benefits
— was manageable at 22.6 per-
cent of the annual budget.
