Washington, D. C.—The 1
.States Civil Service Commission has
:sent a notice to post offices, warn-
ing individuals that misleading in-
formation is being given the public
by representatives of some of the
correspondence schools which sell
-‘civil service” courses.
For a long time, the Commission
bas been receiving complaints from. seri0us
different parts of the country which j
' indicate that opportunities for ob-!
Gaining Federal employment have
' been greatly exaggerated.
It was made clear that no school .
has any connection whatever with |
the Civil Service Commission or with
any other branch of the Government,
and also that the Commission has no
: agents who solicit applications for
■ civil service positions or who sell
-‘civil service” courses.
No school can “guarantee” Gov-
ernment employment and none is
•given Information regarding exami-
nations, or any other information,
which is not available to the geneial
public. The Commission stated that
it does not recommend any school,
■and explained that it is not neces-
sary fbr anyone to take a couise
with a so-called civil service school
in order to compete ip a civil ser-
vice examination.
