^Thia week we are slightly ex-

week's < Edition, you may well
rmagi^e why. We have wririen
until we can’t think of anything
else to say, and if this fact
weren’t so, the “European Situa-
tion” would have crowded all else
from our mind. We have the most
difficult time trying to decide
whether we really understand what
is going on in Europe or whether
we think it is something like a
good story we have heard some-
where.
We have seen so many “war
pictures" in which musical prog-
rams were interrupted for impor-
tant war bulletins, etc., etc., that
we can’t quite decide*that this is
real. Of course, before the affair
is closed we will doubtless know
exactly what is going on.
We can’t or won’t accept the
idea that the United States might
become involved in war. The pos-
sibility of having our friends in
the army, and perhaps getting into
some kind of service ourselves,
seems rather remote. . .but care-
t hi liking will cause near panic.-

democracy.
L*t us say with simple fervor,
“Thank God for the United
States.”

some of the agencies that have
expired by the lapse of charters.
This list shows close government
contact with every phase of indus-

government sustains to homes, to

How irksome
find the name of
—m
it is to try to
some musical
composition and be unable to do
so. We think that someone
should suggest that the announc
ers give the names of selections
to be played on the radio after
the selection ' has been played
rather than before. For this
reason: if one is reading and lis-
tening to the radio, the announc-
er’s part of the program is
usually missed, but some melody
that one likes will attract atten-
tion. After the beginning of the
composition, there is no change to
find out what it is. The situa-
tion should be remedied.

We were sitting here with our
trivial little thinking- process in
action wondering “Where do they
go, those smoke rings I don’t
blow,” and how we did it? Such
tripe!

Jnp? pretty good cinema at-
tractions are slated for next week.
“Maisie and “Angels Wash Their
Faces.’ Maisie is portrayed by
the sprightly Ann Sothern, and
if you like her, (and who doesn’t)
you will be almost certain to en-
joy this show.
We are ardent fans of the
“Dead End” Kids and any
in which ' they appear is
enough for us. This time I
lads don’t get quite such a
deal, and we were happier i
the whole thing. Ann Sheri
is most easy to look at; in ]
with some of her ngh
scraped off, we think she is \»
to look at. Not bad acting eid
