Judge declares mistrial in McBride case
family members are local attorneys.
Jeffrey McBride is accused of shooting
Eddie Joe Gonzales, a 51-year-old home-
less man, during a scuffle between Drag
Emporium and Denton Athletics in the
800 block of West University Drive.
Police found Gonzales near the Den-
ton Athletics building on June 6, 2015,
with a gunshot wound in the back.
Hagen argued throughout the trial
McBride acted in self-defense.

McBride, 27, is a lifelong Denton
resident, and his family has deep roots
in the city. His father, Glen McBride,
owns Glen’s Pawn Shop & Music Store
on West University Drive — less than a age, McBride was identified as the driv-
mile down the street from where the erofa red pickup that approached Gon-
shooting took place. Glen’s uncle, How- zales behind the Denton Athletics
ard McBride, is the original owner of building about 3:30 am. June 6.

WASHINGTON - Punching back
a day after his fired FBI director’s dam-
aging testimony, President Donald
Trump on Friday accused James Comey
of lying to Congress and said he was
“100 percent” willing to testify under
oath about their conversations.
Trump cryptically refused to say
whether those private exchanges wrere
taped — a matter at the heart of the con-
flicting accounts of what passed between
them at a time when Comey was leading
an FBI investigation into Russia’s inter-
ference in the presidential election and
its ties to the Tramp campaign.
He asserted that nothing in Comey’s
testimony to the Senate pointed to col-
lusion with Russia or obstruction of jus-
tice. ‘Yesterday showed no collusion, no
obstruction,” Trump said.
He further denied ever asking Comey
for his ‘loyalty” contradicting Comey’s de-
tailed sworn testimony about a private
dinner the two had in the White House.
“No I didn’t say that,” Trump stated
abruptly, taking questions at ajoint press
conference with Romanian President
Klaus Iohannis in the Rose Garden.
