The Denton Housing Authority
wants to be the city’s exclusive
agent in bringing affordable
housing to Denton. More than
1,200 apartments have been
built in Denton the past few
years. Nearly all of them are
occupied, driving a rental market
that can charge ever-higher
rates to students, families and
the elderly.

A 19-year-old man was taken
to Medical City Denton with mi-
nor injuries on Thursday after-
noon after he hit the side of a
GMC Arcadia while attempting
to cross North Bell Avenue near
East Oak Street, according to
Denton police spokesman
Shane Kizer.
The incident was reported
at about 3 p.m., Kizer said. He
did not know the victim’s cur-
rent condition as of early
Thursday evening, but he said
the teenager was expected to be
released.

39-year-old woman, was travel-
ing at about 20 mph when the
man struck the side of her car.
She was unharmed.

Camp 43’s itinerary with won-
derful, unique experiences for
our students.”
There is no cost for the
camp. Lunch and snacks are
provided daily along with a for-
mal dinner on June 23 to con-
clude the camp. All partici-
pants are responsible for their
own transportation to and
from the George W. Bush Pres-
idential Library and Museum,
located on the campus of
Southern Methodist Universi-
ty in Dallas.
Interested students should
also named the committee
chairs, including state Rep. Lour
Price, R-Amarillo, to the Public
Health Committee, a post once
held by Denton’s former long-
time representative and Stucky’s
predecessor in District 64, Myra
Crownover.

tees consider issues related to
forestry, wildlife, livestock and
eminent domain.
“Growing up with an appreci-
ation for agriculture and the land
has always been important to me.
Protecting private property and
water rights is crucial for Texas’
ability to prosper,” Stucky said in a
prepared statement. “I look for-
ward to serving on these two im-
portant committees.”
The Texas House of Repre-
sentatives has 38 standing com-
mittees to hear testimony and
make recommendations on pro-
posed legislation, including the

members voted unanimously
Wednesday to approve a bond
election order for the upcoming
May ballot.
The board is asking voters
to approve two propositions
during the election. The first is
for $11,907,836 worth ofbonds
that would fund additional
land purchases, elementary
and middle school renovations
and construction on new soft-
ball and baseball fields. The
second proposition would
bring in $1,291,360 for syn-
thetic turf at the football stadi-
um.
