The Senior Class of Sundown
High School was honored with a
“Spring Banquet” Thursday
evening, March 30, at the First
Baptist Church. This is an an-
nual affair and is sponsored
by the Woman’s Missionary Soc-
iety of the church.
Mr. BUly Key, school super-
intendent, offered the invocation
before the meal of fried chick-
en, baked potatoes, salad,green
beans, and dessert. Following
the meal, Mrs. H.C, Janes,
WMS president, welcomed the
I seniors, sponsors and guests.
Billy Belyeu, class president
gave the response. Special mu-
sic was provided by Thomas
Lynn, pastor of the church,
i/ho sang “When Heaven Came
Down and Glory Killed My Soul”
accompanied by Mrs. Lynn. Tad
i Corbett was the featured speak-
er with his ventriloquism act.
Mr. Corbett is an instructor at
I South Plains College as well
as Youth Director of First Bap-
tist Church, Levelland and the
Baptist Student Union director
at SPC.
Mr. Corbett closed with a
challenge to the Young People
to establish a Home Base of
Church Influence, Home Influen-
ce, and School Influence, and
then to have a true ambition
for the future.
Wilson Pirtle, high school
principal, gave the benediction.
Class sponsors present were
Mr. and Mrs. Max Washington,
Twelve seniors of the fifteen
enrolled were present. Mrs.
Frank Belyeu, Mrs. Palmer
Hays, Mrs. A.J. Wright and
Mrs. Bill Duffy, mothers of the
seniors , assisted with the serv-
ing of the meal. Mrs. L.N. Ed-
wards was generally responsi-
ble for the preparation of the
meal, as community actions
director of the WMS.

DAYTON, Ohio (UPI) — A gu
station attendant worked only
one day but he took home
$95.35.
The operator of an east side
filling station said he hired the
attendant Sunday. When he
cam-? to work Monday the man
was gone, but so was $62.85 in
receipts, seven cartons of
cigarettes, 5,000 trading
stamps and his uniform. It add-
ed up to $95.35.
