Convention officials report they
actually had difficulty finding local
boys willing to escort the lovely
young ladies on this pagebut
only at first.
These thirty-eight young women,
not counting the three at left, may
very well be going out with some-
body else's "steady” boyfriend,
as they make the rounds of the
massive District 2T-2 convention
here.
THE DILEMMA OVER WHETH-
er to spend a delightful two even-
ings with these attractive and per-
sonable Lions Club Queen con -
testants and run the risk of in-
volking the ire of eteady girl -
friends who .esoived with a public
appeal, and LeveHand girls have
agreed to be generous, at least
during the convention.
Local boys from as far away
as Baylor University decided to
make the "sacrifice," and each
escorting the new Lions Queen of
escorting the new Lions Queen of
District 2T-2.
THE QUEEN CONTEST WILL
be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday at
South Plains College auditorium,
and the girls will also be present-
ed to the convention at 11:30 a m
at South Plains College.
The girls will stay together in
a group at Jim Stroud hall on
the college campus, and they will
travel in a group while in the
city, with their various ehaper
ones. Also, the mother of each
candidates is invited to attend the
convention.
SECRET JUDGES RAVE BEEN
named and, in reality, the queen
contestants will be judged contin-
ualy thi oughout their appearan-
ces during the convention.
Their poise, personality, beauty
and ability to mix with people will
be among the items considered.
The primary function of the Fri-
day night queen contest appear-
ance will be to allow the general
public to view the contestants in
formal attire.
WHEN CONTESTANTS ARE
not before the Lions Club, they
will be entertained with various
functions. After arrival at Stroud
Hall, Thursday evening will be
spent in getting acquainted with
other contestants. They will re-
hearse at the college auditorium
at 8 30 a m Friday prior to their
presentation to the convention, at-
tend a noon ladies luncheon at the
San Andres Hotel, rehearse again
from 2 to 5 p m., then eat an even-
ing meal in the dormitory lounge.
After the queen’a contest, they’ll
attend an informal sock hop with
their escorts at the San Andres
Hotel.
Their Saturday schedule starts
with a coffee and sweet-roll ses-
sion at Chat ‘N Chew restaurant
at 9 a.m., a social visit with con-
vention delegates from 11:40 until
DAUGHTER VISITS *
Miss Pam Nesbitt is at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Nesbitt on the Brownfield
Highway for a visit before ac-
cepting work this summer. Miss
Nesbitt, who attended Stephens
College in Columbia, Mo., two
years ago has been employed by
the government in Dallas for the
past two years.

tend a model luncheon along with
other conventioners in the college
gym.
THE NEW QUEEN’S BIG Mo-
ment will come at the annua! gov-
ernor’s banquet, at which
time the winner of the Friday
contest will be announced.
The queen’s ball will round out
*the big evening and the girls will
close out their convention stay in
Levelland with an 8 a.m. to •
a.m. breakfast in the coffee shop
at the San Andres Hotel.
The queen’s contest committea
includes Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simon,
chairmen; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Reid,
Dr. and Mrs. C. G. Dunn, and
Dr. and and Mrs. Tom Spencer.
Mrs. H. M. Luna of Pampa is
