Uncle Tommie Jackson and Mr. J.
Wells, of Owlet Green, honored us
with a visit Wednesday. They paid
their arrears to The Telephone, and
said let it keep coming. Mr. J. F.
McManes also joined the Roll of
Honor.
We are very sorry to note that Prof.
S. J. Lewis, principal of the Canton
High School is indisposed to the ex-
tent that he has tempoarily vacated
the school room. His eyes are in-
flamed and swolen to great propor-
tions. We hope to see him at his
post of duty soon.

The Workers’ Institue, which con-
vened in session hereon Friday morn-
ing last, broke up Saturday evening
without completing the programme,
owing to the severe and continued
rainfall. Several questions cf inter-
est were discussed at lenght, and
much good accomplished by the meet-
ing. The body broke up without se-
lecting any place to meet at on the
next 5th Sunday. Corinth was a can-
didate before, and we learn that she
would press her claims this time be-
fore the body dispersed. We sup-
pose it will be the duty of the Board
to appoint a place for the next meet-
ing

Edgewood Notes.
To Ihe Editor of I bo Telephone.
Edgewood, Tex., April 30. —We
have had enough rain—but it is still
raining. Edgewood is on a boom.
I Prof. F. M. Chancellor, who is con-
ducting one of the finest country
schools in the county, at Holly
Springs, honored us with a very pleas-
ant visit Saturday. Ho informed us
that his school was progressing finely ;
meeting of the Worker’s Institute
will be held at Corinth, the 5th Sun-
day of June, same being the 29th day
thereof. Corinth is situated about 9
miles east of Canton.
It has been suggested that all the
citizens of Canton community meet
at the Canton cemetery the third
(3rd) Saturday in May—the 19th inst.
and clean off same.

rell, Dallas and other points
