Three bold highway robberies
took place in Hunt county the
latter part of last week. OnThurs
day uight as a gentleman named
Hale was on his way home from
Greenville, where had sold cotton,
he was halted in the neighbor-
hood of Payne’s Store bv masked
men, and compelled to hold up
his hands while they went thro’
his pockets. They got a few del,
lars in silver which he had loose
in his pockets. He had a roll of
greenbacks which he had tucked
under-the lining of his hat., that
they did not find. % .
On Friday night, just west of
Caddo Mills, a gentleman return-
ing from Greenville in a wagon,
was halted and searched, but he
had no money.
Saturday evening about dark as
Messrs. Jack Kelley, George Pat-
terson gn<l Wm. Apple, of the vi-
cinity of Lone Oak, were return
ing from Greenville in wagons
they were halted about one mile

Messrs.
Kelley and Patterson are both
poor men and could ill afford to
lose their money, to say nothing
of the outrage perpetrated on
them. ------------—r— —-•
These are bold and terrible out
rages, and must have been the
work of the same gang. They
should receive tlte prompt and
vigorous attention of the authori-
ties, and it is hoped they may be
caught.—Greenville Appeal.
A terrible railroad aroident oc-
curred on the Pennsylvania rail
road, four miles from Jersey City

"While we rij Ul It wu’ll
a night of it.”
Two hours later, wheu Mrs.
Jflnes, with a weary-sigh, remov-
ed the thimble from her fiuger,
Mr. Jones patted her on the
cheek and said:
“I say it again, my dear, say it
again, that wherever i go I will
make it known," proclaim it from
the housetops, shout it in the
highways and byways, that a wife
who gets up in the middle of tllfc
night to.sew buttons on her hus-
band’s clothes is a priceless treas-
ure, a_crown to that husband,
and an ornament to her sex.”
Then Mr. Jones, chuckling to
himself, lay calmly down and
slept the sleep of the just.—[De
