There is no controversy over this election no politic',1
pit? to be ml; no remuneration for the work, done and
tim- spent; and no applause from the general public
although the work done by the members of this board
is of the greatest importance to everyone in Wood
C ounty.
The man elected to the job should le unselfish, in-
terested in the general welfare of others a good busi-
nessman, a lover of the soil, and willing to spend and
be ‘pent to protect the most valuable heritage we have
— our topsoil.
The Board of Supervisors consists of five members
from live /ones. The member of one zone comes up for
election every y*~or beginning with ’one one and rota’
ing through five
Members of the present Boa^d are: D. B. Clonts own-
er of 2,500 acres of land near Hawkins; James Wright,
owns 1,000 acres at Quitman, Claude Mullinax owns
100 acres at Winnsboro; Barney Hcoten owns 100 acres
at Alba and some land in another county. Doyle Starnes
v/as supervisor in this zone until October 4 when an
election failed to be called because notices of the el* -
tion were missent. It was reset Nov I.
All persons over 21 years of age who hold title to
farm or ranch land lying within zone two are eligible
to vote. This will be a convention tvpe election. Candi-
dates will be nominated from the floor. Voting will be
by secret ballot. Every qualitiecl voter should come out
and take part in this election and snow the men who
ha/e given themselves unselfishly to save our soil *hat
v/e arc behind them.
