COCKE, 109, passed away
Thursday, September 5, 1996, in
Meridian, Texas. Mr. Cocke was
bom in the Hill Country, December
18, 1886, and raised in the Steiner
Valley area of Bosque county.
He married and lived in Bosque
County until moving to Rockport in
1930 and moved to Morgan in 1950.
In 1950 he returned to Rockport
where he lived until moving to
Meridian in 1980. He was a member
of the Meridian First Baptist
Church. He is survived by three
daughters, Juanita Helton of Clifton,
Texas, Cleo Craven of Meridian in
1980, and Frances Thomason of
Irving, Texas; two sons, Alfred
Cocke of Fulton, and Alvis Cocke of
Rockport; eighteen grandchildren,
numerous great-great-grandchil-
dren, and great-great-great-grand-
children. Funeral services were held
at the Charlie Marshall 'Funeral
Home Chapel, 10:00a.m., Monday,
September 9, 1996, with Rev. Jim
Hoffman officiating. Burial fol-
lowed at the Fulton Cemetery.

local nursing home. She was born
September 18, 1899 in Terre Haute,
Indiana. She was a member of the
Community Presbyterian Church in
Port Aransas.
She was a past member of the
Tarrant County Chapter of the
Eastern Star in Fort Worth and a
member ,of the Retired Teachers
Association in Fort Worth. She is
survived by her sister-in-law, Ann
Jones of Hemett, California; her
nephew Johnny Jones of Laverne,
California, her niece, Sue West of
.Hemett, California, numerous great
nieces and nephews and special
friends. Jay and Wanda Barr of Port
Aransas.
Funeral services were conducted
Sunday, September 8, 1996’ at
2:00p.m. at the Community
Presbyterian Church in Port Aransas
with Rev Richard Safford officiat-

aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral
services were held at the Charlie
Marshall Funeral Chapel in
Rockport, Texas on Tuesday,
September 10, 1996 at 2:00p.m.

HAMMETT
JACK LEE HAMMETT, 86, of
Rockport, Texas, passed away
Saturday, August 31, 19%, in' a
Corpus Christi hospital. He was
bom February 25,1910 in Sherman,
Texas to Lafayette A. and Mary
Elizabeth Hammett.
He was a hair dresser by trade and
moved to Rockport in 1967 from
San Antonio. He served in the U.S.
Navy during W.W. II. He was a
Shriner and a member of the Anchor
Masonic Lodge #424 in San
Antonio, Texas, where he would
have received his 50 year service
pin this year. He was past president
of the Texas Cosmetology
Association and past president of
the San Antonio Cosmetology
Association. He was a volunteer at
Good Samaritan in Rockport.
He is survived by his wife, Pat
Hammett, of Rockport, Texas; his
son, Ronald L. Hammett of San
Antonio and several nieces and
nephews.
