therford— Mineral Wells—• Cle-
burne Track Meet for the second
straight year Thursday April 14,
with 67 points. Mineral Wells took
second with 54Vz points and.Cle-
burne with third with 26 Vz points.
The meet was held in Weather-
ford.

Kangaroos Begin
Spring Training
Spring training is under way
for the 1955 Kangaroo football
team, which was Bi-district
Champion of District 9AA last
year. The Kangaroos will have
tougher competition during the
1955 season being' moved up to
2AAA football.
The drills will last for three
weeks climaxed with a game with
the seniors who played on last
year’s team,
The coaches will be looking for
someone to replace Dan Bowden,
Paul Martin, Freddie Curtis,
Dwayne Ragle, Kenneth Korges,
Jerald Williams, Joe Tison, Diego
Valtierra, George Darden, Dan-
ney Davis; and Maxie Massengale,
who will graduate this year.
There will be 12 returning let-
"W" Association Plans
Spring Football Game
Plans were made at the month-
ly meeting of the “W” association
Monday to sponsor a football game
between the seniors and the 1955
Kangaroos to raise money for a
fishing' trip. The trip is to be at
the end of school and the place
will be decided later.
Dan Bowden will be in charge
of the ticket sales and a commit-
tee consisting of Dan Boone, Davis
Young, and Platt Allen will be in
charge of the advertisment.

- Blaine Brawley and Kenneth
Korges represented Weatherford
at the State Track Meet in Austin
May 6-7. Brawley entered the
highjump and Korges in the dis-
cus throw.
During the season, Brawley set
a new record at the Cowtown Re-
lay with a jump of 5 feet 11
inches. Brawley placed second in
District and tied for second at
regional with 5 feet 10 inches to
qualify for the second year to go
to State,
Korges, who is going to the
State his first time, will be a
good contender in the-, discus
throw. He won the District Meet
with 146 feet 7 inches and the
Regional Meet with 167 feet to
qualify for State, At the Tarleton
Relays, he set a new record of
149 feet.
Golf Team Places
At Regional Meet
W, H. S. Golf team took third
place out of six teams Saturday
April 23, when they met at Step-
henville for the Regional golf
meet. Weatherford golfers had
qualified the week before in dis-
trict when they placed second be-
hind first place Wichita Falls.
Brownwood won regional and
qualified for the State meet May
6-7. Paschal was a close second*
Weatherford third, Wichita Falls
fourth, Arlington Heights fifth,
and Sweetwater sixth. »
